Some sources appear to state that Pelican was, or was originally, to be armed with depth charges for attacking U-Boats. Aside from being spectacularly silly and expensive compared to just dropping the charges out of the launching aircraft, I can't verify this as...anything other than having originated in Wikipedia, having been added to the background of the ASM-N-2 Bat program in 2006. I don't know what the source for that edit was, but I can't find it, and the sources I have that don't appear to post-date that don't mention anything about DCs or U-boats. - The BushrangerOne ping only07:46, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
