- ... that the Penitential of Finnian is the oldest known penitential?
Created by Kingoflettuce (talk). Self-nominated at 16:31, 24 October 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Penitential of Finnian; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
- @Kingoflettuce: Article new and long enough, and QPQ is done. No copyvio is detected. Checking the hook for verification, though, some sources (which may or may not be in the article) seem to state "one of the oldest known", or "oldest known Irish" penitential" – maybe add the "Irish" qualifier? - Most of the sources, including those cited, are very unambiguous, e.g. "The earliest known penitential, dated to the mid-sixth century, is a comparatively brief manual attributed to Uinniaus, and hence known as the Penitential of Finnian." (from Abraham's book) The "Irish" qualifier seems redundant in any case, since the Irish penitentials were certainly the earliest ones. KINGofLETTUCE 👑 🥬 11:01, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
