Reference style

Omnitech "only being good for 100bps"...
editEr, if it's connecting to a Teletype at the other end, then those only tend to run at about 100 to 110 baud anyway. Having the modem go any faster would be pointless as the two machines wouldn't be able to sync. The low rate doesn't really seem to be the modem's fault, nor that of the telephone line or whatever - it's just a case of the remote station being locked down to that speed. Same as how a modern 56k has to step down to 14.4k, 9600 or even 4800 if sending a print to a traditional fax machine. 146.199.76.161 (talk) 14:45, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
