Page move request

edit

As the Party changed the name from "Partdul Mișcarea Populară" to "Mișcarea Populară", should the page be boved from "People's Movement Party" to "People's Movement"? --ES Vic (talk) 08:53, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

And we should change it back now as the Bucharest Appeal Court decided to reject the name change: "Traian Băsescu nu poate schimba numele partidului". :) Mentatus (talk) 15:01, 18 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

"European Federalism"?, Don't think so.

edit

The reference (5.) consists of wrong and misinterpeted information. There is no evidence whatsoever in the romanian press that would suggest that any of the party members has "federalist" views. Moreover, Mr. Basescu has disproved this idea:

"Traian Băsescu claims that “the only military structure that can guarantee the security of the European Union is NATO, and Romania must remain a loyal partner of the USA and the United Kingdom"

THEREFORE, I kindly ask you to remove the words: "European federalism" from the pary ideology, Thanks. FlorinEugen (talk) 12:15, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Islamophobia"?

edit

I don't think PMP was so vocal on this issue to be considered one of their polices. Now that i thnik about it, I never heard an official PMP statement regarding Islam nor the muslims. The only statements were of former party presidents Eugen Tomac and Traian Băsescu regarding the construction of a mosque in Bucharest that is not justified by the number of muslims in the city. The party has never endorsed nor promoted laws agains romanian muslims, it didn't restrected imigration polices for citizens of muslim countries, nor did it openly stated "muslims must be stoped" as most parties classified as "islamophobic" would have. Maybe not the party itself, but some important members did. Mihail Neamțu is also an important member that is against muslim, multiculturalism and immigration to Romania. Personally, I think that anti-immigration should also be added (at least as disputed) RAMSES$44932 (talk) 17:20, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

The party is also a populist one (if you speak romanian, here is a source http://www.dw.de/mitingul-mi%C5%9Fc%C4%83rii-populare-%C5%9Fi-dedublarea-intelectualilor/a-17500688) RAMSES$44932 (talk) 17:23, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Leading members also protested against the refugees relocated in Romania RAMSES$44932 (talk) 17:29, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Again, having some policies that might be considered by some islamophobic or anti-immigration is not enough to classify a party as such, at least not in the infobox. I think this would create confusion regarding the meaning of those terms as the only romanian party that is actually anti-immigration is Noua Dreaptă which is also Eurosceptic. The views of those two parties on immigration and muslims are fundamentally different and I belive it would be a mistake to classify PMP policies the same as Noua Dreaptă's policies. Not to mention that those polices would go in contradiction with the party's Liberal conservatism ideology. Some americans could be called anti-immigration, some german parties are anti-immigration, but those people are against immigration in general and they are considered anti-immigration because of that. PMP has not stated that it is agains immigration, they only opposed the immigration of syrian refugies as many other liberal parties of Europe did because of economic and cultural issues. Regarding Populism, i think it is fair to say the party is somehow populist and the link you provided is a reliable source so i will add it to the list. User:Barumbarumba (talk) 11:52, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Being against multiculturalism is a part of right wing policies, so it goes without saying. The infobox shouldn't be so full of information on issues that are already addressed by the ideologies already mentioned. And also Mihail Neamțu is a renowned conservative who, even if he is the party's spokesperson, has many different views then the party's official views.
