Nicknames
editI've removed the talk about his "Previous nicknames" from the main article as: a) I've never heard of them. b) There is nothing to back them up. c) They didn't deserve to be the second sentence anyway.
Could someone please explain where these nicknames came from and when in hsi career they applied? cheers, aLii 17:10, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Career Prior to Liverpool
editI think there should be a little bit more about his career prior to joining liverpool. He's been playing for six years, only one of those years being at Liverpool. Yet there are three lines about his three seasons at Villareal. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.17.202.62 (talk • contribs) .
- Yeah this would be great, however I know almost nothing of his time in Spain, care to contribute your knowledge? aLii 12:54, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Goalkeeper stats
editSurely the goalkeeper stats should be games played and clean-sheets not games played and goals? i'm sure this isn't the only goalkeeper with that stats layout, but it really is rubbish. I mean barring a select handful very few keepers are going to score, and their clean-sheet rate would be indicative of their standard, especially for Reina who kept 33 clean-sheets last term.
Dogging and luring children
editI am pretty sure that he never had sex with a dog, or lured children into his car. take that out —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.190.61.17 (talk) 09:51, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Torquay United Loan Deal
editIm 100% sure thats not true , take it out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.77.109.10 (talk) 21:46, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
100 clean sheets record
editToday (22 March 2009), keeping a clean sheet against aston villa, he reached 100 clean sheets for liverpool faster than any keeper in our history. I searched google, and this is the top page that showed it, but I dont know if its reliable enough, also I dont know how to add references so don't know what to do...

Early Career
editThis line is incorrect: "Following some good performances, he caught the attention of Liverpool and became the third Spaniard signed by coach Rafael Benítez after Xabi Alonso and Luis García." Not sure what his chronological ranking is in order of Spanish signings but Antonio Nunez, Fernando Morientes & Josemi were all Spanish players definitely signed before him in the 2004-05 season, so he at least 6th not 3rd! I've deleted the last bit, if anyone wants to re-add his correct position with the correct players then fine ---RC4282 02:285, 3 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.239.248.191 (talk)
Type of box used in 'Career statistics' section
editWhy is the current box used in the 'Career statistics' section different from the type used in most player articles? See Xabi Alonso, David Villa and Arjen Robben (all GAs). I guess it is striking, but hey a box grey in colour (the conventional one) does its job best no? ANGCHENRUI Talk♨ 09:31, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Penalty-saving ability
editI don't understand why Reina still has a reputation as being great at saving penalty kicks. Excluding shootouts, his record at saving penalties in open play during his career at Liverpool is actually quite mediocre. I think he is a great keeper but I wouldn't list his ability at saving penalties as one of his major strengths - which the article does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.30.168.93 (talk) 21:38, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Update in Statistics
editSeason has been over for quiet a long now but still no it shows 37 games in last season (he played all of them) and a total of 217 when he has played 220 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahkk88 (talk • contribs) 14:12, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to Pepe Reina. Favonian (talk) 21:11, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
José Manuel Reina → Pepe Reina – Per WP:COMMONNAME. The subject is rarely referred to as José Manuel Reina in the English media, rather being referred to by his nickname Pepe. Some recent examples: [1], [2], [3]. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:04, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. While Pepe Reina is more widely used, we are encyclopedia and should encourage the use of real names, instead of nicknames. - Darwinek (talk) 10:58, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- That is not correct - please take a look at WP:COMMONNAME. This states that "The most common name for a subject, as determined by its prevalence in reliable English-language sources, is often used as a title because it is recognizable and natural". For example, Bill Clinton's article is located at Bill Clinton and not William Jefferson Clinton. In this case, the most common name for the subject in reliable English-language sources is Pepe Reina. The use of real names rather than nicknames is not the case at all. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:36, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Support - per WP:COMMONNAME. As a Liverpool-fan, I did not know his name was anything else then Pepe before I checked his wiki-article. Mentoz86 (talk) 16:04, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- Support, his common name is clearly Pepe Reina. BigDom 17:52, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
