GETTING STARTED

edit

I'm still gathering info on the subject, and would appreciate anything you have to contribute. I would appreciate your e-mailing me before making any changes to this page until the end of the month. After that, have at it!

OK, I've taken this about as far as I can by myself for now, so am removing the edit tag. It is now open to all.

Guidelines

edit

What IS a Pepin Garcia cigar?

edit
  • Any cigar blended AND manufactured by Pepin at either of his two factories is considered a PG cigar for the purposes of this article.

What IS NOT a Pepin Garcia cigar?

edit
  • Cigars whose blend was created by Pepin, but which is manufactured by someone OTHER than Don Pepin is NOT considered a PG cigar. This includes cigars from Tabacalera Tropical.

And why were Havana Soul and Spiriti Sanctus removed??? Don't just delete something without explaining why. I have reverted that edit and moved them to the listing for Cigar King, as they are house brands for that company.

Photos

edit

I have a photo of Don Pepin for which I am attempting to track down permissions. With luck, it can be used here.

Pending Matters

edit

Another Pepin brand

edit

To be released soon is the La Amistad. I have no further details at the moment. When I find out more, I will include it where most appropriate.

Also, a box-pressed cigar (name unknown at this time) is scheduled to be released soon for E & O Brands.

Things to track down

edit
  • Who Pepin worked with in Nicaragua prior to coming to the US
  • DOBYear obtained, but month and date are still needed.
  • Name of Nicaraguan factory
  • Name of wife; other children?
  • Details of his work in Cuba
  • Exact dates (at least years) for his peregrinations.
  • Address of Miami factory

Notes on Sources

edit

¡Ay de mi! Information is found scattered about the Internet, a little bit here, a little bit there, very rarely any large chunks of data. Listing everything would result in a very unwieldy list, so I am giving the sources with the largest amounts of data.
Glacierman 18:33, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Slowly citing appropriate sources as I have the time.

Notes

edit
  • The Tatuaje Cohetes: filler & binder - Nicaragua; wrapper - Nicaragua Corojo 99.

POV

edit

He has gone from an unknown to one of the most highly sought-after cigar makers in a very short while. OK, he isn't yet in the same league with the majors, like Fuente and Swedish Match, etc., but he is on the top of the heap in the boutique arena, and his reputation is equal to people like the Padrons, Olivas, etc.
Glacierman 22:30, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edited for POV and removed POV tag.

New Brands

edit
  • Ashton recently announced the pending release of the San Cristóbal, which is being made by Pepin. No further details are yet available. This is the first line for a major brand that Pepin has done, and marks a break-through. When this is released and more info is available, it will be given it's own page. • To be released soon is the La Amistad. I have no further details at the moment. When I find out more, I will include it where most appropriate.

Padilla Cigars

edit

The contract between Padilla and Pepin was not renewed, so as of early 2008, Pepin will stop manufacture, and Padilla will be making arrangements with someone else. I will delete the Padilla listings in July '08. Glacierman (talk)

Image is too large

edit

Someone who's invested in this article should re-size the image in the infobox. Judging from the pixelation, it's a bitmap image (i.e. a raster graphic) that's not meant to be displayed that large. ask123 (talk) 14:48, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Moving on

edit

I started this page, but I'm on to other things. I no longer have the time to keep this updated--haven't for some time--and someone else will have to update it as necessary. Sorry, but life has its own agenda. Glacierman (talk) 23:05, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
