Missing Parentheses
editSince I can't edit it myself maybe someone else will. Second paragraph of section "2.4 Season 3 (1987–1988)" should be:
"Larry acquires a reporter job working out of the basement of the Chicago Chronicle, a fictional metropolitan newspaper, and helps Balki get a mail room job. They are overseen by demanding city editor Harry Burns (Eugene Roche)." 14.202.32.28 (talk) 02:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Comment
editThe Last paragraph is confusing. Who are "Mark" and "Linn-baker?"
- Mark Linn-Baker is one person. Mark is his first name and Linn-Baker is his last name. He is the actor playing one of the show's main characters. Nine hundred ninety-nine (talk) 15:00, 8 May 2018 (UTC)
Alleged Boulder exterior
editThis article claimed that the exterior used for the Larry and Balki's house in Seasons 7 and 8 was the same Boulder, Colorado house used in Mork & Mindy. This is not correct. In fact, the series did use that exterior exactly once - in the Season 5 episode "This Old House." But that exterior concerned a house that Larry bought for purposes of selling in that same episode. That house was not featured in any other episode. The actual location of the house used in Seasons 7 and 8 remains unknown. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zevonsky (talk • contribs) 07:34, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm glad you cleared that up. I've visited that house in Boulder a couple of times, and it didn't look at all like the house in seasons 7 and 8. However, the neighborhood does hint that perhaps there are houses like that around. It remains a mystery. Halixi72 (talk) 19:33, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Should Mypos have its own article?
editHas there been enough information about the fictional island nation of Mypos to justify a seperate article? I recall in one episode a "mood lampchop" was in the shape of Mypos, giving an idea of what the island looked like and throughout the series, Balki gave considerable information about the nation and its culture. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.254.113.17 (talk) 21:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC).
- There is a lot of information about Mypos that can be gathered from various episodes. A few of them are in the Balki article. I've been adding to it as I think of things. I could probably write up a couple of paragraphs on Mypos, but I don't know if it would be enough to meet Wikipedia's standards. There was an episode where Balki and Larry go to Mypos ("Citizenship" part 2), which would be useful, but unfortunately I don't remember seeing it (if I did it was 15 + years ago) and don't have access to it. --Susan118 (talk) 07:43, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
i believe that in "stephen kings it" there's a scene from perfect strangers on television at the jewish man's house.
I can understand having a brief entry for Mypos, to explain that it's the name of two fictional sitcom lands. The first Mypos is a fictional Mediterranean island from where the character Balki hails on the sitcom "Perfect Strangers." But also, it has another, seemingly unrelated, sitcom existence. In the episode of the Disney sitcom, Jessie, "Spaced Out," Ravi is given a birthday gift to go into space with a foreign astronaut, who says he is from Mypos, but speaks with an Eastern European accent. That Mypos' chief export, according to character Zuri's internet research, is pollution. Being nearly 50, I knew I had heard of Mypos before when I saw that Jessie episode. It's just my opinion that Mypos needs to have its own Wikipedia entry, I think it does meet the criteria.Kelelain (talk) 21:20, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
Why is 'Mypos' not described as a fictional place? Think this part of the wiki is misleading as a lot of people might be inclined to think it's a real place. 82.41.251.96 (talk) 23:14, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

editMoving remaining trivia section here after integrating as many "facts" as possible into the article per WP:WPTCU. If anyone can integrate these remaining factoids into the article, please feel free to do so, just don't re-add the entire trivia section please. I also removed unnecessary info about Family Matters. Trivia (Moved from main article)
edit- ABC aired reruns of the show in its daytime lineup from August 1989 to July 1990 at noon (EST). It was replaced by a new version of Match Game.
- Larry's last name was inspired by the Wisconsin city Appleton.
- Bronson Pinchot's identical twin brother Justin had a guest role on the episode titled "It Had to Be You". The character he played (named Nico) was identical to Balki and dated Mary Anne while Balki dated a woman identical to Mary Anne.
Actually, Justin is his younger brother, although I've seen them wrongly identified as twins in several places. Susan118 (talk) 17:17, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Does anyone know the names of the actors in the original introduction? They couldn't have been chosen for a family resemblance so my guess is they are crew members or something, especially the fellow in the sunglasses striking a pose by the fence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qpalzm7 (talk • contribs) 05:32, 31 May 2009 (UTC) I just read that the man by the fence might be Bob Saget. Is he? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qpalzm7 (talk • contribs) 07:56, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's funny, I always thought he looks like Bob Saget, but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere that it was him. Where'd you see that? I don't know who any of the actors are, non of them even look remotely familiar other than him. --Susan118 talk 08:18, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
More exterior locations?
editThe street with the train in Chicago in the opening sequence from Season 3 is 203 North Wabash Avenue. The building where Larry reads the newspaper is Chicago Cultural Center and the spot where Bronson pets the horse is 156 East Chicago Avenue --Kvint3 (talk) 23:08, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
I just added a section to detail the actual locations of the buildings used in the exterior shots in the show. However, the only one I know of is the main apartment building. Does anyone know where the large Victorian house or the Chronicle building are located?
- The Chronicle building is in reality known as the London Guarantee Building, located at 360 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
I also corrected the assertion that Larry and Balki had moved in the third season... the apartment did appear different, but I believe it was meant to be the same place, just a minor set change to meet the needs of the show. Halixi72 (talk) 16:11, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- I have reversed your section about the apartment change, because the following facts are indisputable in support of the new apartment starting in season three:
- The interior of the apartment seen from the third season onward was very different from that seen in the first two. It was not a "minor" set change. Some elements were similar, such as the fireplace and the bookshelf - but this is television, and things get recycled for economy reasons. But the strong differences between the two apartments is not difficult to establish. Among other differences, there was at least one additional bedroom, the front door was in a different location, the kitchen was to the right of the family room instead of behind it. The kitchen counter was completely reoriented, becoming a more frquently-used focal point of action, and the kitchen as a whole had a more modern look (tiling, blinds).
- The apartment exterior seen in season three and onward was in fact a new building, and its location is known and verifiable. It is located at the northwest corner of West Dickens Avenue and North Clark Street in the Lincoln Park district of Chicago. The apartment building still stands, and is virtually unchanged in appearance from when the sequences were originally filmed in 1987.
- The apartment change was anticipated in the show's storyline. In one of the final episodes of the second season ("Tux For Two"), Larry states that he hopes that he and Balki would be in a "new apartment" within a "couple of months" if he could get a job working at a newspaper.
- Actor Bronson Pinchot himself is on record at the time as saying it was a new apartment...
There's another problem on the situation comedy, Perfect Strangers. "The first hurdle to get over is the tryout," says talented Bronson Pinchot, one half of the comedy team with Mark Linn-Baker. "It's a gigantic crapshoot but if you get the audience's attention, you must figure out how to keep them entertained."
On Perfect Strangers, Pinchot and Linn-Baker, who play comic cousins, are getting a new apartment "so we won't wind up as Laverne and Shirley. We'll each have our own bedrooms and girlfriends. People were starting to ask questions.
"In a situation comedy, the workplace is very popular. So we're getting new jobs, too. We'll both work on a Chicago newspaper. I'll be in the mailroom but only feet away from Mark so we can have lots of mishaps. I won't have as thick an accent this year. I couldn't be that naive forever."

This page http://www.perfectstrangers.tv/episodeseason3.htm says that they moved to a new apartment in the same building. Could the different exterior shots be explained as the other side of the same building? Nine hundred ninety-nine (talk) 14:29, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Premise Section POV
editA lot of the content in the premise reads more like an argumentative essay than a neutral article. Specifically, the author speculates about how the characters interaction "transcends" the immigrant in America theme. I think this is too POV. Any thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuanhui (talk • contribs) 15:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Looking for help writing an article about the spin-offs and crossovers of this series
editI am writing an article about all of the series which are in the same shared reality as this one through spin-offs and crossovers. I could use a little help expanding the article since it is currently extremely dense and a bit jumbled with some sentence structures being extremely repetitive. I would like to be able to put this article into article space soon. Any and all help in writing the article would be appreciated, even a comment or two on the talk page would help. Please give it a read through, also please do not comment here since I do not have all of the series on my watch list. - LA @ 17:26, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Australia DVD release
editThis was released on region 4 DVD in Australia, according to http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/Product/350857/PERFECT_STRANGERS_(Season_1_&_2)_(4_DVD_Set), this was released 10-9-08. However that is a site selling the DVD so I don't know if that constitutes an acceptable source.

DVD release section
editI notice someone changed the table in this section, claiming to have "updated information". The only addition I can see is the line "for the first time" which seems irrelevant. It also looks like some information was removed, e.g. subtitles. This was just done, so maybe it's a work in progress. If the less complete information remains, I plan to revert back to previous version.--Susan118 (talk) 22:51, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- The section in question was added to later the same day, so the above can be ignored. --Susan118 (talk) 18:28, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
I know someone had an issue with the table that included the flag icons, due to size, and redid the table. The old table seemed easier to read, so I took it and resized it somewhat, and added it back in. Hopefully it's acceptable. My experience with tables is limited and mainly done through trial-and-error, so there is an extra bit I can't seem to get rid of under "Release Dates".--Susan118 (talk) 00:44, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Syndication
editAOL in2TV seems to have been renamed AOL Video, and no longer shows Perfect Strangers. There are some episodes shown on Joost.com; however I don't know that either of these sites qualifies as "syndication", perhaps it can be indicated under another section. Maybe the "syndication" section can be re-written to indicate the shows syndication history.--Susan118 (talk) 23:01, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Episodes are back up, it must've been temporary while they were changing the site. --Susan118 (talk) 04:52, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Everyone can choose to either support or oppose either names below. Right now, Perfect Strangers (2001 TV series) exists as the British TV series. --George Ho (talk) 13:28, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- An explanation of a reason would have been nice. Dicklyon (talk) 06:28, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- My explanation must have been ambiguous, so I must elaborate: There are two tv series with the same name, and I won't propose that "TV series" be scrapped out just because it is a popular topic. In fact, I don't think 1986 series is valuable enough to be most educated by readers; I don't have the show in my local area anymore. However, I just don't have an opinion on below three proposals, and I can't tell which to pick. --George Ho (talk) 08:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Proposal 1
editPerfect Strangers (TV series) → Perfect Strangers (ABC TV series) – I have given my thoughts about this requested name. ABC may be interpreted as the American Broadcasting Company, but there is also the ABC network in Australia: Australian Broadcasting Company. Also, another show may be the same name under the same American network. Nevertheless, there's Wings (NBC TV series). Until I vote, I'm abstaining this proposal. --George Ho (talk) 13:28, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Need an explanation of what is prompting the move from just TV series. One or the other belongs at TV series, IMO. The other TV series should be dabbed by year or country.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:06, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose – see proposal 2. Dicklyon (talk) 06:28, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Proposal 2
editPerfect Strangers (TV series) → Perfect Strangers (1986 TV series) – This interprets that this is a very old TV series. However, I wonder if the year is needed. Until I vote, I'm abstaining.
- Support – it appears the reason is to distinguish from the other TV series by that name, which is at Perfect Strangers (2001 TV series). Might as well do it in a consistent way. See the disambig page Perfect Strangers. Dicklyon (talk) 06:27, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Proposal 3
editPerfect Strangers (TV series) → Perfect Strangers (American TV series) – This and other two are perfectly good names, and this and other two are distinguishable. However, as I said in #Proposal 1, there could be the next American "Perfect Strangers" in the future, but it could be in the different networkm such as Fox (network) or NBC. Now I'm abstaining myself from voting. --George Ho (talk) 13:28, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

- Perfect Strangers (U.S. TV series) → Perfect Strangers (TV series)
- Perfect Strangers (UK TV series) → Perfect Strangers (TV miniseries)
– I realized that the British programme was just a miniseries, so this American program should be just only one topic of "(TV series)". George Ho (talk) 07:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

In the "Foreign versions" section it says: "In the fall of 2006, the Russian TV station REN TV launched a remake of Perfect Strangers featuring Andrei, from a remote former Soviet republic, who moves in with his cousin Ivan, a Moscow resident." There is a small mistake: the Moscow resident is called Andrei, and the other one is called Ivan (names are mixed up). So, please change it to: "In the fall of 2006, the Russian TV station REN TV launched a remake of Perfect Strangers featuring Ivan, from a remote former Soviet republic, who moves in with his cousin Andrei, a Moscow resident."

THE DANCE OF JOY DEBUTS IN EPISODE#2*PICTURE THIS* Fuzz31604 (talk) 08:20, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. B E C K Y S A Y L E S 09:19, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
The premise section states, Balki's signature is his "Dance of Joy", a cross between the dosado and the hokey pokey that he performs (with Larry) to celebrate good fortune. He debuts it in the third episode, "First Date", at a singles bar when he realizes that the song the band is playing sounds like the "Dance of Joy". This is probably what the user wanted changed. The statement He debuts it in the third episode, "First Date", at a singles bar when he realizes that the song the band is playing sounds like the "Dance of Joy" could be changed to He debuts it in the second episode, "Picture This". Nine hundred ninety-nine (talk) 16:46, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
I checked the DVD and they do the dance of joy 17:30 into the episode "Picture This". Right before this, Larry and Balki had an argument and Larry was groveling so Balki would forgive him. Larry says, "Balki, Balki, please!". Balki responds, "Oh, I forgive you! Now we're happy because we're friends again so we have to do the dance of joy."
