This article was redirected to Born This Way (and later Alpocalypse) without any kind of discussion. I believe this article certainly meets notability requirements, based on the fact that plenty of other Weird Al singles have their own articles, and the fact that it is currently in the news for Lady Gaga's initial rejection. I am thus being bold and restoring the article to its pre-merge state. If you disagree that this should exist as a free-standing article, please use the formal delete/merge process. I also Support a dedicated article here. The single has gained sufficient media attention that a well referenced article, beyond a stub, has been created, thus meeting WP:NSONGS.--RadioFan (talk) 14:04, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
A 'single' is not notable in its own right. Why can this information not be merged to the artist's page or Born This Way's page? Per WP:NSONGS the main notability criteria is awards, charts and covers. Aside from that, songs need sufficient coverage to make a detailed article. While the latter is debatable the song meets NONE of the primary criteria. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1[talk]00:59, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:WAX and WP:OTHERSTUFF, other articles existing do not justify this article's existance. The number of times I've heard that argument is ridiculous. This article is about "Perform This Way". The primary criteria for individual song articles is charting, awards and covers. The policy says besides that, detailed information must exist. Just because something is released as a single, it does not automatically receive a right to its own article. Two of the sources in this article are word press blogs which are not reliable sources per WP:USERGENERATED anyway. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1[talk]01:59, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Either way, I would consider this song to have gained enough media attention to deserve its own article. And of course it hasn't won any awards or charted yet - it was only released within the past 24 hours.
Said Wordpress blog is Yankovic's official blog, which may not be enough to justify it as a source, but it's probably where the rest of the media got most of their information from. pcuser42 (talk) 02:36, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Articles are not created in anticipation of notability. At present this song is not notable. Virtually all of the information here is already present at the parody section of "Born This Way". An independent page only serves a purpose when there is to much information for the album and/or there is significant detail to create a detailed page covering multiple aspects of the song not already covered in other articles. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1[talk]03:06, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
The song's rejection by Lady Gaga's manager stirred a bit of controversy when it first came to light. That aspect was sort of down-played in this article, but the "drama" surrounding that event itself I think warrants it enough notability to stay a stand-alone article. 67.10.113.107 (talk) 17:01, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I know that Holly Beavon is listed as "The Madonna" as Weird Al's Blog page, however, the woman singing "Express Yourself" for a few seconds, does look and sound like Julie Brown, who did a memorable Madonna parody in "Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful. I wonder if she is making an uncredited cameo? It's one thing to look like Madonna, which Holly Beavon does, it's another to sing like her, which Julie Brown does. Er, Yankovic himself created Beavon as the video role. Now, the liner notes give a "Monique Donnelly" as the BG vocals (the only female listed for that song). So its doubtful Julie Brown is involved. --MASEM (t) 05:13, 22 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thee Mightee Kittens Wordpress.com and Wikianswers both write that is Julie Brown making a cameo appearance as the Medusa/Madonna singer in the video, so it probably is her.204.80.61.110 (talk) 14:51, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Bennett Turk.Reply
Thee Mightee Kittens Wordpress.com shows clips of the video with the Madonna lookalike in it and does make for a convincing case. Until I see evidence that it's Not Julie Brown, I think it is her. It makes sense that Al would use Ms. Brown in the video, since she did do a great job in the Medusa: Dare to Be Truthful parody. If you use the Google search block and put in the words: "Perform This Way" "Julie Brown", you will get a lot of replies. There are too many people who think that is Julie Brown in the video, for me to think it's not her.204.80.61.110 (talk) 17:29, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Bennett TurkReply
You can't prove a negative, and the one affirmative point we have as being Beavon is from the primary artist himself, Yankovic. We need a reliable source (not blogs, not forum posts) that affirms that that was Julie Brown. --MASEM (t) 17:54, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
