- How is that wrong, and why don't you give it a title and/or sign? 134.58.253.57 (talk) 16:21, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Losing ID documents = major crime?
edit- "Loss of the identification document and/or the possession of a stolen document are major crimes in many countries."
Losing your identification document is considered a crime, let alone a major one? Andareed (talk) 10:30, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Japan
editThis article lists Japan as one of the countries that have permanent residency. However, the article foreign-born Japanese states:
- "Probably because of the difficulty of gaining citizenship and because of cultural difference, foreign-born Japanese people account for a very small percentage of the demography in Japan. Many who are born and live in Japan permanently, particularly Korean and Chinese, tend to maintain their citizenship. There has been a constant discussion among the government and lawmakers whether to give them some status similar to that of a permanent resident in the United States."
This implies to me that they don't hold permanent residency options yet, and that they are in talks for it. Which article is correct? Is this one presumptuous, or is the other one outdated? It would be good to clear this up for consistancy. Tyciol (talk) 20:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Indian Citizenship
editIt IS possible to get Indian citizenship. The biggest proof is Sonia Gandhi. The government web-site also mentions this. A foreigner can become citizen after staying considerable length of time (like 12 years) in India. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.167.140.231 (talk) 15:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Need a separate page for "Residence Permit"!
edit"Residence Permit" redirects to this page, but the two are not the same concept at all. Permanent residency is just ONE of many kinds of residence permit. One can have a residence permit for study, work, family, etc. How do I fix this?
Also I'm not sure if the first sentence is accurate where it says this "refers to a person's visa status." My understanding is that a visa is to ENTER a country, residence permit is to STAY in a country (e.g. over 90 days). Some countries do not require visas of other countries for stays of up to 90 days, but do require a residence permit after that, so visa is not always relevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.195.92 (talk) 20:01, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Ireland, stamp 4 is not for permanent residency
editPermanent residency is not the same as residency as mentioned above. The link behind Ireland, going to stamp 4 is thus incorrect. A stamp 4 in Ireland is not for permanent residency. This link should thus be removed to prevent confusion. --DePurpereWolf (talk) 11:53, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Acquiring golden visas
editAppearantly, golden visas can be attained when just buying real estate with a minimum value (for some countries), see http://www.forbes.com/sites/ceciliarodriguez/2013/09/29/want-to-live-in-europe-buy-a-residency-permit/ and http://best-citizenships.com/ In others, there are much more requirements, namely having stayed all ready for a number of years, having a job, ... see http://www.thaivisa.com/residence-permit-thailand.html
Perhaps this should be made clear at the wiki page KVDP (talk) 14:11, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
I have created a Golden Visa page. Peter Mulvany 11:58, 21 December 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mulvany (talk • contribs)
Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis
editBarbuda as well as St. Kitts and Nevis are listed under European Union. This should be fixed. They are not part of the EU. Barbuda isn't even a souvereign country, it is an island and part of the state of Antigua and Barbuda. 109.125.16.183 (talk) 10:25, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Kashmir Permanent Residency
editThe state of Jammu and Kashmir observes a system of permanent residency. Although the state is part of the country, there are some special restrictions for non-permanent residents. For example, only PRs can own property in the state. Also, once a PR woman is married to a non-PR man, the woman loses PR status. These restrictions are due to Article 370 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_370). I think this should be added to this page.LokeshRavindranathan 13:24, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
