I think it may be incorrect that the Duke of Sussex ceased to be a Personal Aide de Camp in 2021. The Buckingham Palace statement does not specifically mention it, it is a personal appointment, and unlike the coloncies, can't be redistributed to other members of the family. I agree, though the fact that he was not permitted to wear the aiguillettes and "EIIR" insignia for the Lying in State of Her late Majesty suggests that those in the Palace think otherwise.
