I think this article could be improved with a few grammar edits. Several sentences could use a comma or two so they don't seem too wordy. There are also quite a few vague statements that could be expanded upon. It said that personality changes "in meaningful ways throughout the lifespan" but did not explain in what ways it changes. In the Evolutionary perspective section, opposing personality traits are said to be beneficial but it does not specify how. Which traits are opposing? Are they just talking about the Big 5 or the different levels or facets of each? How are beneficial? For a job? In social environments? I was also confused what was meant by a transactional influencing factor or if that was the gene-environment interaction. --CourtneyLynn33 (talk) 20:13, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

I think it might be important to add to this page that shared environmental influences do play a role in personality and are not always of less importance than genetic factors. However, shared environmental influences often decrease to near zero after adolescence but do not completely disappear as T.J Bouchard stated in one of his articles. Bouchard, T. J. Also I think it would be beneficial to discuss more views on the topic of personality development. It is interesting how you briefly explained some of the factors that can affect personality. There was a study described in an article that concluded that the Big Five personality traits were largely influenced by genes with a small amount of influence coming from environment factors. This could be good to add when you briefly discussed the Big Five traits. You could also add how there are certain traits that are influenced by environmental factors more so than the Big Five traits. Essays, UK. (November 2013). In point of fact, Piaget's theory was not one of personality development, but of cognitive development. Albert Bandura and Erik Erikson conceptualized theories on how personality develops. Freud's theory addressed psychosexual development, not personality development.

Freud's psychoanalytic theory and psychosexual development shoudn't be explained in this article about personality development. This sections shoud be merged into the articles about those subjects. The lead diverts from defining personality development to stating that “personality development includes many things.” There was no transition word used at all, and the list of “things” had no sources supporting its connection to the development of personality. I believe this article has much potential in articulating what is currently known about personality whether it be philosophical, psychological, or biological. Perhaps focusing more on the changes and growth of personalities throughout the human lifespan can be more enlightening than listing different general information about several psychological/biological theories.J.pau.correa (talk) 23:46, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

While reading this article, I noticed some things that can be fixed. For example, there are a few words or phrases that appear to be missing. It looks like they are replaced with the words " text" or " bold text". Also, there were a few sentences that just seemed too long. I noticed some changes that could be made to this article, beginning with the trait theory section. I believe it would be beneficial to add some additional information to this section and to link the Wikipedia article relating to trait theory. I would add information about what makes something a trait and examples of trait inventories used such as the big five traits. I would also add information from sources critical of the trait theory. I would cite sources showing the correlations seen in how traits change as a person grows progresses through life, likely including this source:(https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0092656699922432?via%3Dihub) I intend to better show how trait theory relates to personality development. I also believe in the introduction where the five-factor personality model is referenced,the big five personality traits Wikipedia article should be linked. Expanding upon life stages in relation to personality development

Although this article would not be a proper source to use for the cited information in the article, it could be a "jumping off" point for improving the article. It describes various life stages in relation to personality development. An editor could search for research articles published in peer-reviewed journals to support this information and cite those research articles in the Wikipedia article. The perspectives section could likely be drastically expanded upon through addressing various perspectives. The evolutionary perspective section could likely be improved through the use of a greater number of reputable sources.

Evaluation of the Article

I am a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho studying psychology, and I think that this article has a lot of potential to be a very useful source of information but for now, it seems underdeveloped. Some of the ideas and theories listed could be better expounded upon. Adding some images or different media to help describe some of the theories could be beneficial in understanding them.
