Suggestions for more analysis

edit

Very informative article! Great layout of the history of various policies and organizations involved in the regulation of pesticides, albeit a little dry to read. Good citations, as well. However, I would suggest improving the article by adding information from sources that are not governmentally based. I'd like to see what some scholars have thought on the successes and failures on the impacts on environment and public health. Krsullivan (talk) 05:44, 9 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Another few suggestions I have are to flush out the introduction paragraph. A sentence seems rather short compared to the length of the article. Perhaps mention a brief overview of the history, or some of the current regulations. I would recommend changing the Background section to become the introductory section since it mentions some of the organizations involved, some of the regulations, and the process of regulation. Also, it seems a little unclear to me exactly which acts and which policies are still in effect today. The last section underneath the Food Quality and Protection Act of 1966 header leaves something to be desired in terms of organization. Krsullivan (talk) 18:43, 12 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

I found the same EPA pages by cutting and pasting the word description. But none of the links work. Tero111 (talk) 12:05, 20 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

The last sentence in the Lead section is very vague because of the words "range of millions of dollars." Where is the information from?

What is the "special review board" that is mentioned in the 1970s history section? Are they an official government agency? I think this needs to be elaborated on.

There should be an updated history section after 1990s. There have been various pesticide regulation updates in the last 30 years. Here is a possible link that describes a few more recent changes. https://setac.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ieam.1635?casa_token=gA9NjOA8lcYAAAAA%3Ain5XAhqQWiQlb9EEWdzMyPcE6IFEAkwcr-lyrwBSPLE_TobV5AWTfrShnwj_fewcF1GMvTaRB6IQ8pSl

There should be a section on the harms of pesticides or why there is a need for regulation, or at least link the pesticide's Wikipedia page.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pesticide

There is no mention of non-direct insect harm from pesticides. Even though insecticides are primarily used for pests, there are other effects on non-pest insects. https://www.mdpi.com/2305-6304/9/8/177 Shaypre (talk) 19:35, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
