rumors
Please do not post rumors, such as "He is engaged to Amie," when if fact he is not — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 23:38, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
The sentence talking about alcoholism running in Pete's family, and then going on to say that he is straight edge and vegetarian, or he once was, is speculation, unless you can post sources for these statements. —sammy randell — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 05:42, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, him being engaged was a confirmed fact. Whether it is to Amie or not, that is a different story.
- IF PEOPLE WANT TO POST RUMORS, THEY CAN. RUMORS ARE NOT TRUE. IF HE'S NOT ENGAGED TO AMIE, THEN ITS A RUMOR. LET IT BE. YOU DON'T RUN THE BAND FALL OUT BOY AND YOU'RE NOT THEIR PR REP. LET IT GO. THANK YOU.
- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a fan website. Rumors have no merit to be posted here. Do not post rumors, they will be removed immediately. Also, irrelevant facts such as "He wears a size 4 in Hollister jeans" have no merit in this article. They will be removed as well.Spuddy 17 01:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

- Where are people getting this info about pete directing a movie? this seems like just a rumor. is there some sort of source for this info?
- he is directing a movie "Release the Bats"
- Pete's depression IS a major part of his life; depression is a major part of the life of ANYONE who has it. What information that is had should be added to the article.
- he is directing a movie "Release the Bats"
He is engaged to katie Johnson of Fort worth texas
wait why does it say he was going out with patrick, i SERIOUSLY doubt that, no matter how awesome pat pat is, lol, but seriouswly why would someone write that? its obviously fake, i would apriciate if someone would remove that, its on "backround info" under "labels"207.200.116.11 02:25, 16 August 2006 (UTC)JeSSi D.
That was probably a misprint...Mr. Wentz was quoted as saying that if he were gay he would date Patrick Stump Blueboi86 16:45, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I heard here that he was dead but then I didn't see it again so whatever B**** posted that I would like to kick your ass. Anig168 20:46, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Where did you get the information that he was once engaged?Tabbishea 02:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay ill clear it up for everyone. Pete is not engaged he has never even went out with a girl named amie. He said that pretty soon he was gonna propose but once he found out that his now ex, jeanene cheated on him he broke up with her. the patrick thing is a rumor also he's not gay. I also would like to say that i deleted the comments section where people were putting personal fan comments wikipedia is a encyclopedia not a comment box Sanriogurly 03:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC) Sanriogurly
Okay ya'll are all WRONG!!!! Everyone knows he's going out with Ashley Tisdale. And of course he's not gay, he's bi-sexual
correction
I erased the statement that Pete has written all of Fall Out Boy's lyrics. That is incorrect. Patrick did pen some lyrics from "Take This To Your Grave." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 17:57, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- whoever wrote this is inncorrect because if you have the fall out boy CD you can see at the bottom of the last page it says Lyrics by Pete Wentz and Music by Patrick(which mean he wrote the note for the music)
- No, actually I am not incorrect. Patrick wrote the lyrics of the verses in "Saturday," and he also wrote the first verse of "Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes." I believe it was the "Take This to Your Grave Director's Cut" where he talks about this. Pete and Patrick have also talked about how with their new album (From Under the Cork Tree) they decided to have Pete write all the lyrics, and Partick write all of the music, as opposed to both of them trying to do both tasks, as they did on "Take This to Your Grave." You must be looking at "From Under the Cork Tree", because the insert for "Take This to Your Grave" does not have pages, and in the credits section it says "lyrics by Peter Wentz and Patrick Stump." :) Spuddy 17 19:12, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
Actually, it DOES say lyrics written by Pete and Patrick. Only recently has Peter become the main lyricist. Patrick used to assist before the compromise that would each stick to a certain task. Like, Peter writing lyrics, and Patrick writing the music.
Pete's battle with depression
I erased the sentences that talked about Pete's battle with depression. Though factual, it really has nothing to do with his biography, especially comments such as "the lovely lyricist." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 05:51, 24 November 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, that does have something to do with his biography. I would have to review the statment to see if was well-worded or if it was being related to something irrelevant, but simply because it was about depression is not a valid reason erase a factual statement.--Esprit15d 22:15, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Pete's high school
I erased the sentence saying Pete attended New Trier High School, because in the 2004 Alternative Press magazine issue with Fall Out Boy on the cover (I believe it was the September issue), it talks about the band playing a show at North Shore Country Day School, and it mentions that is where Pete attended school, graduating in 1997. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 05:30, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
peter attended nths in 1994 as a freshman. i know for a fact because he was in the yearbook. he then transfered to north shore for his sophomore through senior years. -sh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.185.42 (talk) 04:17, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
facts section
Someone posted a whole plethora of facts about Pete under the "facts," section, however most of the facts are already stated somewhere else in the article (such as name, birthdate, birthplace, etc...) or they were very irrelevant, such as "he has teddy bear shoes." I erased them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.166.16.28 (talk) 20:09, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- Again with the facts section -- tons of unverified and out of context material. This needs to be fixed gradually.--Esprit15d 13:27, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- The ones I felt were not relevant to an enclyclopedia article, that sounded more like things on a fansite, I removed. The other two facts I left can be found mentioned in Spin magazine, I believe it is the January 2006 issue. Spuddy 17 03:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Ok some fact that i know is wrong is that Pete never attended that high school. He attended Fremd High School!! I should khow i live very near there. And i have heard from many sources that he went to Fremd!

- How about semi-protecting this again? All sorts of crap is constantly put into this article. [[User:Jni|jni]:39, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- I dont really see a reason for protection as much as prehaps an addition about the leaking of his sidekick pictures...the only reason I feel these are being kept from the site is because of fans who want to forget about the incident; I would love to forget about alot of things, but it still happened and is still reason for addition to his wiki.
- I agree, we need to semi-protect this page again. This entry is going to be hammered with crap about pictures, when it's not of any value to be included in this article. -evianboy
- You don't think that news about is sidekick getting hacked needs to be added? It's still a part of his infamy now.
- Couldn't possibly be more relevant. Expanded the information and added a bunch of citations. -VJ 02:50, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, yesterday I applied for this page to be semi-protected (again), so now new and unregistered users can't screw around with the page. I'm thinking this might need to be permanent, since people just can't seem to help themselves. witchbaby 22:40, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
To Be Added?
Hey. Pete studied Political Science at DePaul University. Please could someone add this to his biography? Source: [1]. Thanks, Myke251 00:10, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Pete Wentz is either bi-curious or bisexual. He has admitted to it in the March 2007 issue of BLENDER magazine. Jonah Weiner was the interviewer. He asked Pete if he has kissed boys and Pete responded with, "I have. Anybody above the waist is totally fair game."
That was just a joke about the "fair game".He also said that what he did do was on a dare.Tabbishea 02:29, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Photos
Someone should upload a photo of of Pete. I'm useless at uploading photos into Wikipedia, since I can never figure out what the copyright status is, so it definately shouldn't be me. Any takers? witchbaby 00:02, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Someone even scared the hell outta me by saying pete is dead on here. HE IS NOT DEAD! Haha, poking fun at his um... sexuality isn't funny... he's aids free. -
Vegetarian/Straight Edge
how would either of these be documented to begin with. it would all have to be first hand accounts. And all his old friends will tell you, Pete sold out hard. Started eating meat on the first falloutboy tour, does coke among other thinngs now.
--Well, if we can find a source for these points, then they should be added, only in a way to make clear of his change of ideals however. --Threatis 02:26, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
This is a topic that is about his early life and sources about him doing it at all are not avalible so this is something that doesn't not need to be talked about anymore. he is a vegan and he doesn't do drugs he doesn't even drink. Sanriogurly 03:26, 5 May 2007 (UTC
How could Pete not drink if he even opened his own bar?
Those Naked Photos
have absolutely nothing to do with an entry on wikipedia about pete. if you want gossip, read seventeen magazine.— Preceding unsigned comment added by SanteMuerte (talk • contribs)
- It wasn't gossip, it's fact that he admitted and caused contreversy in his life. Sorry but it's a notable event. Myrockstar 22:45, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- definitely notable. it was a revolutionary thing for their band - brought recognition with the tabloids, and to the point where everyone knew who he was.
- that information is something that's part of his life now. he admitted to it himself, so it's official.
mixed!!
Uh since when is Pete mixed!! African-American + white. Uh NAH!!! He's ONLY white ppl. Dur. Ya'll are idiots if u think hes mixed.--68.239.252.85 04:38, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- wtf. he may not be black, but he IS something other than white. indian, black SOMETHING, ive seen his mom, and she is really dark. unless it was like someone elses mom that he called his own. and ive seen his dads too.
- FIND A PICTURE OF HIS OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, AND THEN SAY THAT.
- Isn't she Pacific Islander?
- I dont know... Im really not sure on that. But Pete would be darker if he was 1/2 black and 1/2 white. So hes probably 3/4 white and only 1/2 black.
PETE IS NOT BLACK AT ALL! and you obviously cant add fractions very well.
- People who are half black and half white come in all different shades.
- I agree, I dont see any african-american traits in him or his mother, other than the fact he has darker skin tones.
- This also doesnt mean that he is anything other than Caucasian either. Poles can be very dark (my cousins are half-polish and are almost that dark), and Jews can as well. My uncle is just as dark as Pete and that side of my family is 100% European.
- His mother is Hawaiian.
- His mother is Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and I'm just going to remove it from the page. Really, does it truely matter what ethenicy? We don't go and debate the other members and where their came from.(This is true)
- some people like just to know
- His mother is Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and I'm just going to remove it from the page. Really, does it truely matter what ethenicy? We don't go and debate the other members and where their came from.(This is true)
- some one put it up there again
- Yes, plenty of people are curous as to why he has a naturally dark skin tone. Not adding his ethnicity, especially if it is as mixed as the above claim, is really robbing people of an interesting fact.
maybe he's indian i doubt he's indian, i am and i'm darker than that.
- He kind of looks like aladdin from the disney movie. Myrockstar 03:02, 22 July 2006 (UTC) ha ha. i dunno
well he might be a little black because his hair was relaxed when it was braided — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.191.47.234 (talk • contribs)

- I cannot confirm this, but I have had multiple sources say he is of Jamaican descent. That could be the reason his middle name is Kingston. He and his mother definitely do share physical characteristics that are commonly associated with people of African ancestry.Spuddy 17 01:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
I swear to God; some people are SO PATHETIC SOUNDING, it's MIND-BLOWING. 1. Pete isn't Black. Coming from an African American girl, I just know these things. The boy has NO negroid ancestry in him WHATSOEVER PEOPLE. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS. 2. Pete of JAMAICAN descent? I highly doubt that. Yes, his middle name, Kingston, is a city in Jamaica, but I don't think that means he's Jamaican, DUH. 3. Here's some traditional characteristics of the average Negroid for you all, FROM the average Negroid: --Coarse, thick, unruly hair --Wide nose structure "fat nose" --Thick lips "big lips" --Small sized eyes --Skin which needs contant moisturization (lotion) to prevent ashiness
regarding the post above: that was the most ignorant thing I've read in a long time. As a black woman, black GIRL you should be ashamed of yourself. --km.
but he's the third
- He is techinically just Peter Lewis Wentz the third. The name Kingston is unique to just him, not his father or grandfather.
Hey guys, if Kingston is supposed to be relevant, then maybe he's Canadian. There is a city named Kingston in Ontario. But he strikes me as looking partially asian. Like. 1/8th or something. Simply because hair and skin tones. He might even be part Cuban. Jezzerkenezzer
Pete's mom is a mix of many different nationalities and pete's dad is caucasian. thus he is half and half! he is not africaN AMERICAN NOR COMPLETELY WHITE!
- this whole talk ridiculous, it's like saying brendon urie is half black because he has big lips. PrincessOfHearts 21:19, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
thank you princess of hearts!! it is all very intresting, but gosh! look, all that matters is he is a good bassist, don't annalize ppl.
- I'm pretty sure that either Pete's mother or father is of 1/2 Jamaican and 1/2 Irish descent. This is first-hand information, it was just a long time ago and I can't remember the details. xfifthcolumnx
PETE WENTZ IS A QUARTER BLACK. yes he is 1/4 black. His mother is 1/2 black, which makes pete a 1/4. it's not that hard to figure out when you look at him, unless your an idiot.
Pete Wentz is Jewish. Duh. He has naturally curly hair, so he HAS to be. And his last name sounds Jewish. Trust me, I've asked people. It's time for a high-five. 21:02, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I think you're thinking of Joe Trohman, not Pete Wentz.Mrsstump23 19:48, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Dude, he's not Jewish. Have you seen pictures of him in his house? What kind of Jew has a cross on his wall? NONE. Hmmmm... I wonder who DOES have a cross on his wall... Peter Wentz, maybe... If you've listened to his random banter during concerts, you might have heard him say "Jesus!". If he was Jew he would have said "God!", instead. Also, you don't have to be Jewish to have naturally curly hair, you just... don't. Lastly, Wentz does sound kind of Jewish, but it could be a lot of other things, too. BigCtheGreek
What does it matter what his race is??? All that matters is that he's a good bassist and in the right lights, looks totally hot!!MUSiC CHiC 20:40, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
OKAY THIS IS THE LAST TIME THIS WILL BE TALKED ABOUT PETE WENTZ IS NOT MIXED WITH ANYTHING YOU CAN'T TELL SOMEONE'S NATIONAL. BY HOW THEY LOOK! HE'S NOT JEWISH,AFRICAN-AMERICAN,JAMACIAN, HE IS WHITE!
Pete Wentz IS NOT white. He is mixed with white, but he isn't white. IT is SOOO obvious that he has black blood in him, if you don't see that then you have a problem. His mother is half black FOR THE LAST TIME!! He straightens his hair and he has a relaxer or something.
maybe he's just good ol' american - maybe has something else in him somewhere down the line. maybe not. both his parents are white. just because he's white doesn't mean he's got to be completely pale - he may just be naturally tan with dark hair. or it may be a recessive gene. who the hell knows. get over it.

Is it true that his nickname is the Spanish Danish? I have heard that in several places, and am wondering if anyone can confirm it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.102.113.119 (talk • contribs)

i read in an AP magazine a quotation by him speaking of his percieved need for security guards (a la 50 cent) to protect against the non-fans he often encounters on tour. i'm sure at least one of you had a subscription the past year, and i think it would be a good fact to highlight the opposition that comes with a 'emo' 'emo-pop' or whatever group suddenly exploding the mainstream. also a few pages away was another band (forgot who) speaking of this exact trend and something to the nature of "that ain't rock and roll"

I was taking a look at this page at its base (aka, in the "Edit this Page" tab) and I see that there is a screenname section that doesn't appear in the actual article. Two things...

source on where pete talked about ativan OD
It was actually Spin magazine in the December 2005 issue in which the article was called "Holiday in Suburbia." I unfortuntely cannot cite this source because I can't find any links to the entire article online without a subscription to Spin. It is better to just write a generic "a magazine' rather than having the incorrect magazine written. Spuddy 17 16:25, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
question
Is Pete seriousley 28? I looked at the other band members and they are all younger than him making him the oldest. Is this seriousley true cuz he looks like the youngest in the band?
He's 27. He'll be 28 in June.
i really don't think that matters..after all he does write most of the songs.

Ridiculous Editing
Under "Enterprises", in the second sentence, "The title was plagiarized from a track off of the Smiths' critically-acclaimed record The Queen is Dead." the word "plagiarised" doesn't seem encyclopedic. Perhaps it should say "taken"? 202.89.142.200 10:22, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
the first paragraph is so true. oral sex with gorillas? and that line under his picture, "emo playing pocket pool"? it's seriously true. pete wentz has a pic of his "thing" online go to google.com and go to the 17th page its there i swear!!!! Whoever 15 year old wrote in the part about his movie into his biography, good job! Everytime I read this article it's true... and in a good way... Pete has also recently taken to calling himself "Ms. New Booty", and a patio umbrella. He lands rather roughly and so begins the stupid things that the group does. Often called Jackass with Fall Out Boy, it closely resembles that due to profanity, nudity, and a lot of laughs. There is also a humerous short that Patrick Stumph and Pete made called 'Bedussey.' There are only three characters and two actors. Bad Twin and Bedussey are played by Patrick Stumph and Pete plays Pancho. The two form a humorous short about two guys who want cocaine. Dont worry kids, Pete and Fall Out Boy has plenty of smart, mature fans too. I have deleted those pharagraphs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.203.243.154 (talk • contribs) .

i'm glad the page has been cleared up since i last saw it, but surely considering pete is a contemporary artist, much more of his work should be documented? little things, like co-hosting the pre-show MTV Movie Awards 2006; i agree the battle with depression is significant (in that he has admitted it, and it probably has a bearing on his lyrics); as regard the 'overdose', as far as i know, he has never specifically labelled the event to be a suicidal attempt. his own words should be used there. i'm not sure if the GAP advert is just rumour or whether it's been verified yet - if there's verification, then his modelling career requires documentation. What about SOAP? (Snakes on a plane) - pete cameos in the video to the title track and decaydance is putting the soundtrack out. - aaliya
for the record. you cannot overdose on ativan. i've watched someone try. you can't get your hands on enough pills. it just turns you into mush though. assuming he weighs like 140 pounds (he isn't THAT big)... the LD50 for that size is around 128 grams. maximum pill dosage? 2mg. to 'overdose' on it would be a ridiculous concept. you cannot die for taking too much ativan, you would need around 64000 pills to do it. although, this could be used as an agent to reduce the fear neccessary to commit suicide, from that statment, it's medically unclear on if he inteded to commit suicide by taking ativan or by committing an action to commit suicide. 30-50 pills (the average someone can take on one prescription) has nearly the same effect as 7-10 2mg pills. there is no further degradation in muscle relaxment, no further loss in basic emotions and just a slight increase in pain tolerence. so, if he had the physical capability to attempt suicide via other methods other than ingesting copious quantities of ativan, and it could be proved. then this would make sense. but otherwise, he's just a troubled kid who has no commons sense, and probably didn't want to commit suicide and used it as another of his 'terrific' attention whore moments... the previously aformentioned is fact (about ativan, i've had to deal with this one before regarding ex-g/f's...) but the later part is probably true speculation (but unverifiable... unfortunately...), knowing pete wentz. --evesummernight
i would just like to quote a section from his profile.
""In February 2005, in what appeared to be a suicide attempt, Wentz took an overdose of the anxiety medication Ativan, and as a result, spent a week in the hospital. Commenting on the event to a magazine, he said, "I was isolating myself further and further, and the more I isolated myself, the more isolated I'd feel. I wasn't sleeping. I just wanted my head to shut off, like, I just wanted to completely stop thinking about anything at all." The suicide attempt was soon put into song form, entitled and was realeased on their album From Under The Cork Tree. After this event, Wentz moved back in with his parents.""
i believe that the song pete wrote about his attempted suicide with ativan, was acctually titled"7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)" a comepletely differnt song to "I've Got A Dark Alley and A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)" but still from the same album. i would appreciate it if somebody could edit this onto the article. thankyou. :D 144.139.71.166 09:07, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I will try and bring back the trivia. The only thing is, it all has to be referenced and it's hard to find little tidbits about him in articles that are pages and pages longs, so that is why they deleted it. I will try to bring some of it back though.Badluckprince 16:24, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Relevancy Problems
While the information on the split EP and Andy joining the band is lovely, its more relevant to the actual Fall Out Boy article than it is to Pete Wentz. I would suggest moving it to the main FOB article or removing it altogether. Oroneko 03:14, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I added it due to FOB being a major player in Pete's life and so are the band members. Just thought it was relevent ot the change in his life. Badluckprince 20:00, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Edit needed (page (semi-)protected)
Can someone please reword this for obvious reasons
- photos of Wentz were posted and spread quickly across the Internet. Other than Wentz's parts, his tattoo of the Decaydance logo on his waistline was shown, no it wasn't which turned the tattoo virtually famous overnight.
Need to add another of his former bands
I just added a Wikipedia entry for another of Pete's former bands, Birthright. Can this be added and linked along with his other former bands? Birthright was fairly well-known in the punk/ hardcore scene at the time, certainly more well known than his first band (Firstborn) which is currently listed. Birthright was listed in an interview in a major music publication - either Spin or Rolling Stone if I remember correctly.--Xfifthcolumnx 02:48, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Ashlee & Pete
Yeah, yeah, I know. There is this whole thing about Ashlee Simpson being with Pete. At the end of Pete's personal life thing, it says that he is romanticly linked with Ashlee Simpson. Meanwhile in Ashlee's page it says:
Simpson has often been seen with Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz in late 2006 and early 2007, and there has been speculation that they are in a relationship. In an interview for OK! magazine she denied this. In an interview with Pete Wentz on Ryan Seacrest's American Top 40 live, Ryan asked if Wentz and Simpson were "on" or "off". Wentz laughed and said "off".
So admins, please take away the thing that says he is romanticly linked with her and put the text above. Their pages should say the same thing about that subject, that's all.
I'm going to remove it, because now on her page it says that she confirmed being single. Redspark09 21:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

The Fall Out Boys On Stage Brawl
January 7th the Fall Out Boys took on the Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, NM and their stage performance turned into a real life WWF brawl. According to concertgoers, at the end of their set during 'Saturday', they started letting people onstage. One of the people in Fall Out Boy's camp was letting people onstage and upset one of the security, which prompted an attack on the FOB pal. Pete, who was singing, saw the brawl and jumped off stage and started attacking the security guard and throwing punches. When he got back on stage Pete exclaimed, "That's what you get when you fuck with my friends...fuckin' asshole." After that the band left and the entire brawl was caught on tape.

Do not delete Early life section without allowing time to source it
One overeager user deleted an entire section of important facts because he had put a tag on it to cite sources. Four days later, after only one other person had even edited the page, he deleted the entire, important section. This violates the spirit of Wikipedia. The information is simple and factual and easily sourced, not exactly controversial. Fans just need a little time to bother citing the sources. Please give it at least a week or two, which is the norm before deleting an entire section for that reason. Aroundthewayboy (talk) 05:40, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- This goes against WP:V, WP:BLP, and WP:BURDEN. Go read the policies. JBsupreme (talk) 05:43, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, YOU need to read them again, because your reading comprehension must not be very good. The policy as explicitly expressed in those links (which I had already read) is to instantly delete CONTENTIOUS facts about living people. Where he was born is not a contentious fact, it took me about 10 seconds to find 20 different sources verifying it. You could have spent that time verifying non-contentious facts rather than destructively engaging in an edit war.Aroundthewayboy (talk) 06:11, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not going to waste my time with you. The burden is on you to cite sources when any content related to a WP:BLP subject is contested. End of discussion. (You can reply, but be sure that I will ignore you from this point on.) JBsupreme (talk) 06:13, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Any third party would agree that I am correct, since I am just paraphrasing the WP guidelines. You seem to struggle with reading comprehension. The mere fact that YOU contested something frivolously does not make it CONTENTIOUS. You were basically contesting an obvious fact that you could have verified with 20 seconds of research. Perhaps you should go to sleep?Aroundthewayboy (talk) 06:17, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

You wrote that you were "removing nndb.com and myspace.com as they are COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE as sources -- WP:BLP violations will be removed promptly)" However, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Sources, Myspace is a perfectly appropriate source for BLP. I actually already explained this when I made the edit, but you seem insistent on an edit war. For your convenience, here is the relevant passage from the guidelines:
Using the subject as a self-published source
Self-published material may be used in biographies of living persons only if written by the subject himself. Subjects may provide material about themselves through press releases, personal websites, or blogs. Material that has been self-published by the subject may be added to the article only if:
1. it is not contentious; 2. it is not unduly self-serving; 3. it does not involve claims about third parties; 4. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; 5. there is no reasonable doubt as to who wrote it; 6. the article is not based primarily on such sources.
These provisions do not apply to subjects' autobiographies that have been published by reliable third-party publishing houses; these are treated as reliable sources, because they are not self-published.
- Furthermore, you seem to misunderstand the guidelines you quote. The point of the BLP guidelines is to avoid defamation, it is not to remove all basic, encyclopedic facts from bios. That is why there is the qualifiers about CONTENTIOUS facts, and that is why personal blogs of living people are acceptable minor sources. You are acting extremely un-WP. I urge you to take a break from the edit war and let a third party chime in with his or her opinion. That's what I'm doing. Thank you and goodnight.Aroundthewayboy (talk) 06:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Aroundthewayboy, NNDb and MySpace are not reliable sources. NNDb can be edited by anyone, making is an unreliable source per WP:RS. MySpace is not a reliable, third-party, published source, so that can't be used either. After a certain amount of time, unreferenced material can be removed per lack of citations, whether contentious or not. When reverting edits, you should cite the removed material, or don't bother readding it. If not, it's better to talk to the editor and form a consensus before starting an edit war. I'd also like to remind both of you to remain civil before you start attacking each other. I requested the article to be fully protected to stop this feud and actually talk things over. I'll gladly help search for reliable sources and help end this feud. DiverseMentality(Boo!) 06:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I think the NNDB got in there because I was rushing to stop his insane edit war, I didn't mean to cite that. But a question: Did you read the guidelines directly above your reply? It is from the guideline for sources for BLP, and it says that blogs and personal sites WRITTEN BY the person in question are valid sources. Why wouldn't his official Myspace blog count? I'm genuinely confused by that. Can you explain how it violates the guidelines that I cited above -- i.e., "Self-published material may be used in biographies of living persons only if written by the subject himself. Subjects may provide material about themselves through press releases, personal websites, or blogs."Aroundthewayboy (talk) 07:23, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I never said that uncited info couldn't be removed after some time, I said it couldn't be removed IMMEDIATELY. My understanding is that in BLP (bios of living people), for legal reasons, uncited CONTENTIOUS material can be removed immediately. Uncited NON-contentious material, however, requires the usual grace period to allow people to cite sources.
- Also, it is irrelevant whether Myspace is a reliable, third party, published source, because there is a special rule for biographies of living people. I have cited this rule about three times already, but to be perfectly clear: "Self-published material may be used in biographies of living persons only if written by the subject himself. Subjects may provide material about themselves through press releases, personal websites, or blogs." I didn't make the rule, I'm only following it. :) Seriously, I would have used a different source, but I had just reread the guidelines and noticed that personal cites were good sources, and it turns out he blathers on about his childhood on his official Myspace page.
- Please clarify how either of these interpretations is flawed. Thanks! Aroundthewayboy (talk) 07:33, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Well, for one, there's no proof the MySpace link you providied is actually him. Who's to say that's not a fake profile? There is no verification that is actually is him. Anyone can create an account and claim to be a celebrity. This could be the real Pete Wentz, but there's no proof. There is doubt that he's the real Pete Wentz. I searched MySpace music and found no official page (note the difference here and here). MySpace is therefore unreliable. DiverseMentality(Boo!) 07:38, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Just as a completely uninvolved editor, if we were to apply WP:BLP as stated, then the MySpace page is highly suspect. I would not include it due to the reason above, as the MySpace page as used does not return as a official page, and as such, we cannot tell if the person who controls the MySpace page is Pete Wentz himself. Even a search on MySpace does not return a official hit on him, except to the official Fallout Boy page. If there is any further dispute regarding the reliability of sources, I suggest that you pose a query at WP:RSN. Thanks. ThePointblank (talk) 08:35, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good point about the Myspace page being unverified. But if the info were on an official Myspace page, Myspace would be a valid source. I don't care about Pete Wentz (his music is horrid), but I'm interested in the abstract procedural question. Thanks. Aroundthewayboy (talk) 00:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- As ThePointblank said, you might want to take your thoughts over to WP:RSN and see what responses you get there. As for the edit war—I've search and haven't found anything in any reliable sources about Wentz's early life. I'd suggest removing the section entirely until something can be cited. I have found a couple sources about Wentz's early career though; I'll gladly add this information when protection is lifted, but first, we must form a consensus. Do you, Aroundthewayboy, agree to remove the early life section until it's able to be adequately sourced? DiverseMentality 06:08, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

- Absolutely not. Have you even read this discussion? Most of the 'Early Life' section as it currently stands is already sourced (Chicago Magazine and Rolling Stone magazine, both eminently reliable sources). There are one or two sentences that I sourced in controversial ways because I didn't have time to devote to it. I cannot believe that you "searched and haven't found anything in reliable sources about his early life." How long did you search? Half a second? I just spent exactly twenty seconds googling, and found the following sources, which more than satisfy the criteria for RS. Please include them in the citations if you insist, but absolutely do not delete the sentences, I just don't have time to devote my entire life to this entry.
- The following story in ABC News's nightline is the source for many of the original statements, about enjoying soccer and all that stuff. There are actually more details that could be included by somebody who cares. I repeat, I found this in twenty seconds by Googling "Depaul University Pete Wentz." :) Anyhow, here it is:http://www.abcnews.go.com/Nightline/Playlist/story?id=3514965&page=1
- Here's another source about him studying political science at depaul: http://www.collegecandy.com/buzz/9701

- In order to be placed in LGBT and religious categories, living people must 1.Publicly self-identify with the label in question and 2. It must be relevant to their public lives. Wentz did not use the label of bisexual in the article, and he also stated he was uninterested in men below the waist. Thus he may not actually consider himself bisexual. Unless he clarifies his statements regarding his sexuality, we should not label him anything. Those are the official rules of Wikipedia, please respect them. Asarelah (talk) 16:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

I suspect foul play - questionable entries.
It appears some entries may have been put in the article by vandals or jokers. They are at least questionable. I have never added, edited, or deleted Wiki content, so I have no idea how this works. I just wanted to bring it up in case someone with experience and access can fix this.
"Late in his early days of always loving dogs he discovered his true passion, dog dancing. At the age of 18 he learned to do the mamba with a German Shepard. He smeared peanut butter all over his body and asked the dog lick him. He hopes after musical career to pursue this passion over. He also hopes to go on Oprah and perform this while dancing to the Pete Wentz. [30]"
"Earlier he would constantly fight with the members of Fall Out Boy over what should be the lyrics of the songs. He wanted every song just to say Pete Wentz over and over again while he is screaming and the only instrument being played is the bass. Patrick later compromised that one song will say his name and Pete will be able to go off on his own to form the Pete Wentz experience. He contributed every screaming part of "Take This to Your Grave" and wanted that to be the only part of the song. Now he has recorded three songs with his solo group and here are the lyrics Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz Pete Wentz. Each song has these lyrics but at a different rhythm and bass tuning. The bass is the only instrument on the solo record. [31]"

Pete said that he wants the fact he lives 3 blovks away from the Home Alon church put on his Wiki page :) x 90.202.191.243 (talk) 13:28, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Not done I can't see that this is significant enough to be in the article, which at present does not so much as state what country he lives in. Algebraist 15:18, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
According to Pete Wentz he said no matter what, whether if he was in Fall Out Boy, he would still have been famous, because he lives near the home alone house. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.77.201.127 (talk) 02:49, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Bl4ck C4rds Project
Most recently, Pete Wentz stated hes working on a new project called Bl4ck C4rds (Pronounced Black Cards) It was announced on his twitter not too long ago and the bands website is even up. New info is statated to be relased Late Tuesday Night July 7th. Should we add this? -anonomyous —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.180.49.218 (talk) 20:15, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Twitter, no matter the owner, is not a reliable source, especially for a WP:BLP. TbhotchTalk C. 20:20, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- There are a lot of reliable sources documenting the Bl4ck C4rds project.

- The Blcak Cards section needs come cleaning up, I don't know how to put citations in wikipedia but the section is not well put together.
its not necessary, but i think we should put it back up even though he said it jokingly. It makes it that much more amazing that its up on the page. i was watching All Time Low's dvd and when he said that "i want that on my wikipedia " i searched wikipedia and it was on here i like couldn't stop laughing- no one expects it to be on here so lets do the unexpected —Preceding unsigned comment added by Butterflyswim8 (talk • contribs) 05:37, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Is that trivia section really necessary?
It's mentioned that he said it jokingly, so is it really something we should keep? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.84.95.168 (talk) 16:08, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
All Time Low - Straight to DVD comment
On the band All Time Low's Straight to DVD Pete Wentz stated that he wanted to have the below fact added to his Wikipedia page. -He lives 3 blocks away from the Home Alone church. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.177.151.202 (talk) 06:51, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- And what's the relevancy of add that, also, the only source is youtube, and it is not enough. TbhotchTalk C. 18:44, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
I second the notion that that piece of information should be added. Pete Wentz, on camera, did say he wanted that added to his Wikipedia page. What is the harm in adding it? (October 21, 2010, 10:25pm)
- Pete Wetnz, Ashlee Simpson and their child were attacked on their house, that is located near the house of Home Alone, that according to IMDb, is at 656 Lincoln Avenue, Winnetka, Illinois, USA. See how easy could someone locate a person, now if you are famous is worst. Wentz wanted that on his wiki, OK, but is not HIS wiki is HIS biography. If he believe that this is vital to his life, is his problem. TbhotchTalk C. 02:35, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
all-state soccer player?
Is there a source for this? all citations say the same thing, but there's never a cite to the group that named him 'all-state'. I was at the all-state ceremony for the 1996 season (his senior year) and he wasn't there, and isn't listed on the site below. It's possible he was all-state before his senior year, but I'd like to see it.

I just want to add that Pete Wentz lives near the home alone church. He stated in All Time Low's straight to DVD while talking to Jack Barakat and said that he wanted it on his wikipedia page. Please add it. Lostinsarah182 (talk) 00:41, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Pete Wentz lived about three blocks away from the church in the movie Home Alone. In the DVD of the band All Time Low called Straight to DVD Pete Wentz took his friend Jack from the band All Time Low to the church in the movie Home Alone. When at the Church Pete Wentz said that he wanted the fact that he lived three blocks away from the church when growing up added to his Wikipedia page. He is not a vegetarian.
Pete Wentz is no longer a vegetarian. He was a vegetarian for some years, he also tried being a vegan. Where are the sources that state that he is a vegetarian? This should be removed from the page. Why does it matter that his name was on the ballot of "The Sexiest Vegetarian Awards"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.142.141.149 (talk) 10:15, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Is no one going to mention his hosting work on the Oxygen television competition "Best Ink"? I happen to love that show and think it should be involved in his biography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.113.21 (talk) 01:07, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
reccomend removing word 'experimental' in intro paragraph / align with other wikis
I'm making this suggestion because I was searching Wikipedia for experimental electronic music, and stumbled on this article because of this word in the intro.
The music of Black Cards is perhaps experimental compared with Pete's past bands, but has little in common with the artists cited on Experimental_music Black Cards is pop-(+electronic) in the loose sense, as in popular (gets played on the radio), and experiemental music as defined in Wikipedia is completely the opposite, by definition.
It is confusing, and also not consistant with the citations ("reggae-inspried," Rolling Stone), and the Black Cards wikipedia page ("electropop, dubstep, techno, dancehall"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 893jf8943hgkd893 (talk • contribs) 16:37, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
Birthplace
According to Pete Wentz's page at the Cook County Clerk's Office's Sweet Home Cook County section, he was born at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Best Ink?
So Pete is the host of the tv competition "Best Ink", and it should probably be put in under his non-music related section. He's been doing it for a couple years now, so I'm surprised that it's not already on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.113.21 (talk) 01:09, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
Home Alone Church
He also said in All Time Low's Straight to DVD that he wanted the fact that he lived down the street from the church in Home Alone added to his Wikipedia.

Why is he listed as having been active from 1992 on? He would've been thirteen at the time. I'm not aware of any music he released before the formation of Arma Angelus in 1998. Falling and Taking (talk) 01:15, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

An occupation needs to be added to Pete Wentz's list, and that would be 'professional memer'. Pete Wentz has been seen using memes several times on social media was well as talking about them. Below you will find examples of Pete using memes to show he is a 'professional memer'. Note, a 'professional memer' is someone who uses memes often and knows a lot about them, always in on the latest and hottest memes. A 'memer' by itself is someone who uses them casually and is not as familiar with them.
In this tweet, you can see that he is expressing a need for a meme art gallery: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/558665564596731905
Here you can see him using a common meme which has been dubbed as 'Joe Biden Looking Out The Window': https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/563936635419512832
In this tweet, you see he is using the Richard Sherman SuperBowl meme: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/563593436935114753
Yet another tweet (I know, I know, he memes a lot), he is using the famous meme that went viral after Katy Perry's SuperBowl performance, which as been called 'Left Shark': https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/562505565872463875
Pete has even gone as far to use his own band mates as memes, and examples will be found here:
1) https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/554137754456846336
2) https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/553336104552644608
Here, he uses another famous meme in the Fall Out Boy fanbase, one we call 'Feelie à Deux: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/541718566501109760
Pete also embraces a meme remade with his face here: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/529872400683634688
And Pete is seen using a meme yet again here, as well as using the wrong form of 'your', something that professional memers do often seeing as they are more focused on their memes than their grammar: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/515904591666241536
Here you can see Pete using Kevin Hart as a meme: https://twitter.com/petewentz/status/514088023680483328
I can provide other examples if needed.

Updating a Dead Link
The 44th citation (for "Wentz later spoke of his suicide attempt to the support site Halfofus.com and cites Jeff Buckley's version of the Leonard Cohen classic "Hallelujah" as a song that saved his life.") has a dead link, but here's the updated one: http://www.halfofus.com/video/pete-wentz/
(Though, for the record, I'm not actually sure of the validity of the sentence I quoted from the Wikipedia article... In the video, the only thing he explicitly states as saving his life is Fall Out Boy (at around 5:50 he says "my band saved my life"). In fact, his mention of "Hallelujah" (at 2:45) is actually about that song being what he was listening to when he overdosed on Ativan.) Wearenotswans (talk) 19:06, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
