Anyone got a transcript of how he announced leaving? I was listening to that astro girl but missed how he said it/ what exactly happened?

On the last Thursday before he left he announced he was leaving LBC and that his Monday morning show was supposed to be his last, however he was telling people early because the weather forcasts predicted heavy snow in Kent, where he lives, so he may not have been able to get to London on Monday, missing his last show. So he kind of half said goodbye on Thursday morning but did indeed return on Monday, mentioning thoughout the show that it was his last. At the end of the show he played My Way by Frank Sinatra (one of his favourite singers) and that was that. Peter Deeley has left the building.

Thanks a lot.

LBC the first commercial radio station

edit

"Peter is currently writing a book about the history of LBC - the first commercial radio station." Surely not. What about Radio Luxembourg, Radio Caroline, etc. Kittybrewster 09:48, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow I am amazed on that updated picture of Peter at the desk there! He looks younger in that pic dont you agree? He has spme muscles too!

LBS was, as I recall, the first LICENCED commercial radio station in the UK. Radio Caroline and etc where unlicenced stations broadcasting outside the territorial limits of the UK, directing their transmissions to the UK.

However, as far as authorised, licenced commercial stations are concerned, LBC was the UK's first.

Definitely of note

I'm surprised to see the proposed deletion of this article on the grounds that Mr Deeley is a "non-notable radio presenter". I think his stints at both LBC and Talk Radio speak otherwise. He may no longer be working in radio but I landed on this page to satisfy a curiosity, so I think it useful that the page remains. I'll edit it accordingly. (Quite a few other UK radio presenters were tagged as non-notable at the same time, some more deserving than others. I might have a look at them, too, and see if I can contribute to better articles.)

  • Simply being a reporter doesn't give notability. It'd occasionally be nice if that were enough, but most often it isn't. You have to show that he's overwhelmingly notable by way of him receiving coverage in reliable sources. What this equates to is that Deeley himself was the focus of coverage in books, TV, radio, or news. Him interviewing notable persons makes it more likely that he would get covered in RS, but notability is WP:NOTINHERITED by him interviewing notable persons or working for a notable company. • A good example would be any given host on a major news channel such as CNN. For every one person that is extremely notable, there are at least 4-5 new anchors that are known and recognizable, yet aren't considered to be notable enough to warrant an entry because they didn't gain coverage in RS.Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 20:47, 17 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
