First English translation

The article introduction notes "An abridged English translation was produced by Thomas Astley in 1746". However, a full one was published earlier in 1731. It is odd to note the abridged translation given the existence of an earlier full one. I have removed this comment. One of the citations (Good, Anne (2007). "The Construction of an Authoritative Text: Peter Kolb's Description of the Khoikhoi at the Cape of Good Hope in the Eighteenth Century".) notes this: "In 1731, the first English translation, done by Guido Medley, appeared in London, published by the print shop of William and John Innys. This shop was quite closely connected to the Royal Society and specialized in books on science and medicine as well as natural and experimental philosophy. Hans Sloane, President of the Royal Society at the time, was a patron of the book, but it seems that Medley was never himself accepted as a fellow of the Society. The book was subsequently reprinted in 1738 by the same firm." So it was not inconsequential. I have not been able to find the Thomas Astley work (though some of the volumes related to Thomas Astley exist on the Internet Archive; however they concern Asia.)
