Proposed merge with Peter McDonald (poet)
editSame man: two articles have coexisted since Dec 2005 (critic) and Feb 2006 (poet). Not sure which disambiguator is better for merged article. PamD 14:49, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
- I proposed merging that into this because this has more content - on the other hand, I think the "(poet)" disambiguator is probably more appropriate. Is this the longest-standing pair of duplicate articles on one topic, I wonder? PamD 14:54, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
- I have now carried out this merge. PamD 20:21, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
History of a merger
editThese were two long-standing articles about the same man: Peter McDonald (critic) was created (over a redirect) on 29 December 2005 as "Peter McDonald" and moved to the "... (critic)" title on 25 March 2008, and Peter McDonald (poet) was created on 11 February 2006 (by an editor who made 7 edits that day and none since then). The disambiguation page Peter McDonald was created on 25 March 2008, and included the "... (critic)" page, but the "... (poet)" wasn't added until 14 November 2010 (with no date of birth). No-one noticed they were the same man until someone inappropriately slapped a stub tag on "... (poet)", which brought it to my attention while stub-sorting: Googling around to try and upgrade the article, I found the other article... and the rest is history. PamD 20:40, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
