Source needed for death
editI can't find anything on Google supporting the fact he's dead. Can someone provide a source? 68.146.81.123 (talk) 15:15, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I think the date of death needs to be removed per BLP if reputable sources can't be added. I just spent a half hour on Google and the only sources are a single blog and some Twitter messages. IIRC that's how Gordon Lightfoot was erroneously declared dead a few months ago. Is there any source other than word of mouth? 68.146.81.123 (talk) 15:51, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. Here and here. Canadian Paul 15:55, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Those are BLOGS. And blogs are not considered reputable sources. What is a reputable source is print media with editorial oversight, and the Evening Standard is reporting that he has died, so that's an acceptable source. 68.146.81.123 (talk) 15:58, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm... they didn't look like blogs. Oh well, good job for those sites for giving an air of legitimacy. Canadian Paul 16:07, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Worth noting that the guidelines don't say "no blogs" but they must be blog postings by experts on the topic. So the Comic Mix article is written by one of O'Donnell's editors making him authoritative on the topic. See also this from Steve Holland who is an expert on British comics (and may be the writer of the Guardian obit tomorrow - which should appear online later tonight). The obituary in the Times of 5th May confirms date of death as 3rd May. RGCorris (talk) 10:48, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
