editDepends on your definition, I suppose. He was born in New Jersey. His parents were from Carpathian Ruthenia, from a village now in Slovakia, and could be considered Carpatho-Rusyns. This is the group that the Lemko Republic was trying to join, and the ethic group of Andy Warhol's parents. Pustelnik (talk) 12:04, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

"before the 1940s" ?
editThe article currently says his arrangement of the Battle Hymn of the Republic" is the "most famous arrangement of the hymn before the 1940s in the United States." What does that mean, the section in quotation marks? It was famous until the 1940's? It was famous back in the 1940s? Or it is the most famous arrangement from the 1940's? What? - Good questions. I just rewrote the confusing sentence and added a newspaper reference. —98.113.162.165 (talk) 23:41, 2 December 2022 (UTC)
