Name given by whom?
editI believe that this anonymous edit may have been a bit rushed/sloppy.
In my understanding, it was not, strictly speaking, a name given by the Greeks but rather a Greek rendition of whatever the name used by the locals was. After all, this "pet-" prefix which is claimed that it means "son of" is not Greek and "Σούχος" was the greek rendition of the name of the respective deity. Could someone with better background on the subject please make the edit. 89.155.98.231 (talk) 03:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, surely the article should be "Petesuchos" too, with the e seen in the given Greek form. The Egyptian would presumably be pɜ-dỉ-Sbk "Gift of Sebek." --Iustinus (talk) 04:59, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
