Philanthropy

He announced during his live on Youtube (9 May) that he'll give each month the money earned from Youtube membership to a charity of his choice. However, I couldn't find any article talking about it (it can only be seen in the replay on Youtube). Is it something that can be add under "Philanthropy"?

In Minecraft series and hiatus (2019–present) part, "In October, Kjellberg stated in a video that his YouTube content, as well as content related to him on other websites such as Reddit, had been blocked in China.[165] He explained that this was due to his comments about the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests and an image of China's paramount leader Xi Jinping being compared to Winnie-the-Pooh shown in a previous video." Due to May 28th, China mainland unbanned the contents related to Pewdiepie in the video website Bilibili and social network website Weibo.

Update charities in philantropy

- since he's doing live on youtube, the money he earns each month from membership will go to charity. In May, he raised 36,000$ for Winston’s Wish - he's doing a live to raise money in honor of George Floyd's death, and the money'll be slit between 3 causes (details in the article) Sources: his youtube channel + [1] Under Mifflin (talk) 16:52, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

I propose to merge PewDiePie (YouTube channel) into PewDiePie. PewDiePie already covers most of the topics mentioned in PewDiePie (YouTube channel), and Felix is known for his YouTube channel, which is why his article should also cover everything about his channel instead of having a separate article cover it. Also, having a separate article about his channel might confuse some users looking for his channel in Wikipedia by using the search term "PewDiePie" or just searching "PewDiePie" in Google and being led to this article and do not much about Wikipedia. the ultraUsurper (talk) 07:33, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Merging

This, is what I have merged so far, and this shows what remains unmerged [PewDiePie (YouTube channel) on the left, PewDiePie on the right].

Mainly I have been focusing on the YouTube channel section, and there is still mroe to merge. Any other thoughts on what should be merged?

The opening sentence now says that he's a philanthropist. Can we get a source for that? I'm aware that he's worked with charities in the past, so I guess the question lies with how much charity work someone has to do to be considered a philanthropist.

Felix Arvid Wolf Kelberg (/ Albrecht / Shellberg, Sweden)

The prison was set up in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Kelberg wrote the PDP on his YouTube channel. First, we’ll post some scary videos and other helpful videos. Their searches have increased dramatically in the last two years and in July 2012. They have reached more than one million. The format of the recording has changed over time, including short videos, previous videos, and more. Style and piece.

August 15, 2013 Kjelberg Street is doing well on YouTube, but it only came out in 2019. The contests are overwhelming at the same time. Personally, I enjoyed watching Kieselberg Lam See on YouTube starting in 2014. From February 29, 2017 and February 14, a search is expected from 6 to 6 p.m. As of March 2021, it had over 109 million subscribers and 27 billion views.

As a celebrity on YouTube and social media, Kelberg makes him one of the most popular Internet celebrities. It opened the door for Oprah to market her independent ad headlines to attract an LLM audience. In 2016, Time magazine was voted one of the 100 most influential people in the world. 174.197.148.174 (talk) 17:01, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Change "associated acts" "h3h3productions" to "TheAnimeMan". h3h3productions and PewDiePie have done a lot of collaborations together, but they are dated (4-5years old) whereas TheAnimeMan and PewDiePie collaborate regularly.

Currently, the official website in the infobox is a shopping link. I would argue that http://www.pewdiepie.com/ is his official website, although it redirects to his Youtube channel. Wouldn't it be better to leave out the official website, or link to http://www.pewdiepie.com/, instead of directly promoting his shopping link? Dajasj (talk) 10:04, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Good catch, linking to his actual official website would make more sense than to have the store link. Even though at the moment it just redirects to the Youtube channel, that could always change. I'll change it now. --TylerBurden (talk) 12:03, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

Marzia Kjellberg vs Marzia Bisognin?

@Handoto: Is repeatedly changing Marzia Kjellberg's name back to Bisognin (her maiden name). Since even her own article has been renamed after their marriage, I see no reason for her to be listed as Bisognin on this article. More opinions? --TylerBurden (talk) 16:29, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

I think you have it backwards. Since 2019, the page has kept her maiden name while linking to her new page name. This is the standard across Wikipedia articles, especially for spouse's who have their own page. Barack Obama'a spouse is listed as Michelle Robinson, and links to the page Michelle Obama. Boris Johnson's spouse is listed as Carrie Symonds, and links to the page Carrie Johnson. I believe the presumption is that the individual has married a person who, at the time of marriage, was using their original name and lists it as thus, and only after the marriage has taken place later changed names. – Handoto (talk) 16:44, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
This just sounds like a lot of WP:WHATABOUT to me, cool if other articles do it differently, but Marzia Kjellberg is widely referred to as such nowadays and I think it makes sense for her to be listed as such in this article (like she has without issues for about two months at this point). Altough I'd welcome a third or more opinions to settle this. TylerBurden (talk) 16:50, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
It's not WP:WHATABOUT if almost every other article uses that format. In 2019, Felix Kjellberg married Marzia Bisognin, not Marzia Kjellberg. The name change came after the marriage, which is why Wikipedia pipe links maiden names to article common names that happen after the fact. – Handoto (talk) 16:55, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
You are bringing up other articles and how they do things there to make a case here, that is textbook WP:WHATABOUT. If you can link me to one policy, guideline, or even MOS that states that this should be the case I'd more than welcome reading through it. TylerBurden (talk) 16:56, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

Swedish-Japanese

Seeing how both Felix and his wife are now registered in Japan, wouldn't it be suited to attach this to the mainline? "PewDiePie (/ˈpjuːdiːpaɪ/ PEW-dee-py), is a Swedish-Japanese YouTuber". Refer to Donald Keene. niko3818 (talk) 06:23, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

What another Wikipedia article does is not relevant to this one, see WP:WHATABOUT. Personally, I don't think it would be appropriate at all, he just moved there. "Ethnic slur towards an individual"

Under 'controversies', it is stated that he used the "ethnic slur "[n-word]" towards another player in the game". Is this irrefutably true? I know that he has stated that he didn't use it toward another individual; he used it as an expression of his frustration. Is there evidence provided to the contrary? Well I never! Thank you- I couldn't access that one :) Mr Blumenthal (talk) 07:24, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Baby named in Wikipedia article

Isn't it wikipedia policy to not name non-notable minors, even if the name is publicly known? Zoë Sugg's baby's name isn't on her article, even though it's public knowledge. Girlyswot (talk) 01:19, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Yep, WP:BLPNAME. Many editors on Wikipedia I think could benefit from reading this given the common fixation on celebrities private lives such as the names of their children. It's quite weird. TylerBurden (talk) 14:33, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

His child's name is Bjorn T2codes (talk) 07:37, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Not done – Children's names are not mentioned unless they are notable. Bowling is life (talk) 11:33, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Kjellberg or Bisognin?

Again the topic of surname used for his wife surfaces, @FalconJackson please provide a link to the guideline or policy that states that a woman's maiden name must be used. Not all women take their husband's surname upon marriage, but in this case she did, hence the article Marzia Kjellberg that you keep changing to an unnecessary redirect. Did you even read any of my edit summaries? - FalconJackson (talk) 01:42, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Also I did not change it to a redirect at any point. It was quite clearly piped. - FalconJackson (talk) 12:36, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

111.3 Million Subscribers

If you look at Google Chrome it says he has 111.3M subs: https://ibb.co/mzFYvKm The above image describes it. I say we should update his subscribers with this. Setarip (talk) 15:09, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

@Setarip: That doesn't matter because that's not where we get this information from. Actually go to his channel and you will see that it is at 111 million, not 111.3. The stats are still up to date so they do not need to be changed. Bowling is life (talk) 15:12, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
YouTube abbreviates the subscriber count. That is not the exact sub count. Go to MrBeast's channel and all channels with over 100M subs. It's all abbreviated. Also it's still correct, Google literally owns YouTube. Setarip (talk) 15:15, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Information Needs To Be Added To History

I believe information about recent events with PewDiePie should have a mention in the 2020-present history section. Because right now it says he is taking a hiatus when he has been posting occasional videos and also vlogs about his child. I think clarification is needed. Change “more than 111” to “nearly 112” TealLine8025 (talk) 21:50, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Not done: "nearly" is imprecise. Hyphenation Expert (talk) 22:38, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

Pewdiepie is still uploading

In the "2020–present: soft retirement and move to Japan" section, it endes with "On 29 June, Kjellberg announced he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from YouTube due to his imminent fatherhood." Which makes it seem like he stopped uploading since then. But he is still uploading(last upload yesterday). Something should be added to indicate this Quick-ease2020 (talk) 10:12, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
