Phước Long (town)Phước Long (township) – I make a mistake when move this article to [Phước Long (town)], but the suitble name is [Phước Long (township)].--Cheers! (talk) 11:47, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Quy Đạt: Quy Đạt ((Vietnamese): Thị trấn Quy Đạt) is a township and town in Minh Hóa ...
  • Nếnh: Nếnh is a township (Thị trấn) and town in Việt Yên District, Bac Giang province...
  • Giá Rai: Giá Rai is a township (Thị trấn)...
  • etc.
So when we come to this group:
Plus defunct areas:i
vi:Phước Long (huyện cũ Bình Phước) - Phước Long District, 2007-2009
vi:Phước Long (tỉnh) - Phước Long Province 1956-1976
Cheers' proposed move to "township" is clear enough. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:28, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • So the "town" can be in one province, and the "township" can be an unrelated location in another province? I note that you didn't manage to come up with another case where anything similar is done. I checked the edit history and I found that this article was at Phuoc Long, Bac Lieu until very recently. This is a township called "Phuoc Long" and it is located in the province of Bac Lieu. So I don't see any problem with the earlier title. It looks like the article was moved to accommodate the village. That's backwards. The village should be disambiguated from the township. Creating an article at Phuoc Long (village) would not result in any conflict, nor would it be a reason to add disambiguation to this title. Kauffner (talk) 05:35, 17 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
@Kauffner,
(i) I continue to support Cheer's proposal for reasons already given.

regarding "I checked the edit history and I found that this article was at Phuoc Long, Bac Lieu until very recently." Okay, I have also checked. Yes 15:29, 14 October 2011‎ Kauffner (talk | contribs)‎ (moved Phước Long District, Bạc Liêu to Phuoc Long District, Bac Lieu over redirect:..... That was one of the 800x VN geo moves counter all 3 VN geo RMs at Talk:Ca Mau, you should remember this since this was among the moves raised in the recent Sockpuppet investigation regarding the coincidences between your edits and the cluster of Ho Chi Minh IPs

Given that the move is one of 800 counter RMs and that the identity of the IP is still unresolved, it can't be cited as a consensus or precedent counter Cheers! proposal.

Regarding your recent edits it seems like you're not waiting for Cheers! proposal, which has 2-1 support at this point, to conclude
(iv)
All in all can we just close this per Cheers! proposal which clearly is an improvement on the present. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:07, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Is there any forum you won't abuse to list irrelevant accusations against me? I never moved this article, you know. I'm not sure I understand what I am being accused of. A page move I made in October went "counter" to a "housekeeping" RM for a different article that occurred 10 months later? If you believe that kind of thing, why don't you move Édouard Hambye back to where he was? Kauffner (talk) 08:19, 18 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
@Kauffner, unfortunately you don't seem to realise that every time you make statements saying that a similar article is at an Anglicized or accent/tone-stripped title you yourself reopen the issue of how exactly en.wp's corpus of VN geo articles all ended up at locations the opposite of the VN geo RMs results. If you stop citing your bulk undiscussed moves as precedent you stop raising the history.
BTW - you've miswritten "move back to Phuoc Long, Bac Lieu" - This article was created 24 April 2009‎ by the super-useful Dr. Blofeld at Phước Long, Bạc Liêu and has always been at a full Vietnamese name.
Can someone close this? In ictu oculi (talk) 02:19, 22 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The "Township" disambiguator

edit

Now that Phuoc Long, Binh Phuoc is no longer disambiguated as "town", the logic for the "township" disambiguator does not exist anymore. This title should go back to Phước Long, Bạc Liêu, where it was before the renaming festivities started, or possibly to Phước Long. Kauffner (talk) 12:02, 28 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
