Chemical name

edit

The structural name listed in the text differs from the IUPAC name listed in the drug box. While all elements are present in both, they are structurally different. Which is correct? --Nonstopdrivel 11:55, 9 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Both are acceptable (position numbers in front or inside (1,5-pentanedione vs. pentane-1,5-dione)

Tone

edit

I don't like the phrase "criticism from racists" found in the history section; the tone does not strike me as neutral. I propose substitution of a phrase like "criticism from white supremacy groups" if a cite for this statement can be found. Some form of clarification seems necessary; the statement is too generalized and unsubstantiated. Nonstopdrivel 16:25, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scrabble

edit

I think the NSA Director's Manual might be a better cite than the personal site. The 1778-point play forms several words, one of which is oxyphenbutazone. It appears to be the best play *known*; it doesn't look like anyone's mathematically proven it. So the statement "oxyphenbutazone is the highest scoring word in Scrabble" is at least imprecise. Tell me if I'm wrong, or I may rephrase it. Frencheigh 21:58, 5 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I made the edit described above to clarify that this is the highest scoring word known. I also retitled the section, formerly Trivia, as "Other significance." Scrabble is a widely played game with significant coverage on Wikipedia. The highest known scoring word in that game is a significant encyclopedic fact. I also added a cross-reference to the Scrabble bingos page. Falstaf 22:06, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re-direct from "benzone"

edit

In the article it states that phenylbutazone is unrelated to the benzones (oxybenzone, avobenzone, etc). Why does benzone re-direct here? Shouldn't it have its own page with the benzones listed?Galeforcewind (talk) 17:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Benzone redirected here because Benzone is a brand name for this specific compound ([1]) and the structure described here was the original content of the article benzone. Perhaps it should be a disambiguation page, but the redirect from benzone to oxybenzone is certainly misleading as oxybenzone is just one example of the class of benzones. 132.229.236.15 (talk) 16:40, 2 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re-direct changed

edit

I don't really know anything about wikipedia, but seeing as phenylbutazone isn't a 'benzone-type' uv blocker, I think the above post is right about the redirect. I don't know or care to know how to make a page about Benzones so I changed the redirect to Oxybenzone (which is at least a benzone), anyone who would like to make a benzone page is very welcome! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.191.121.105 (talk) 23:24, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

limited licence in UK

edit

In the UK, this medicine is available on a limited basis, e.g through hospital pharmacies, for specific health conditions. I believe a similar situation applies in other European countries. I intend to alter the article to reflect this fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.4.185 (talk) 09:25, 2 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Warfarin

edit

...isn't an "anti-platelet" drug. You might be thinking of aspirin, clopidogrel, abciximab, et al. Also, Coumadin -is- warfarin, so saying "coumadin or warfarin" is redundant, unless you intended the "or" to mean "also known as," in which case it's ambiguous. Also, I'm not sure you can justify the phrase "all NSAIDs are additive." I'm changing those two things, and I'd suggest providing in-line citations for quite a few of the other miscellaneous factual assertions. Blahdenoma (talk) 23:40, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
