Red links
editEarlier I altered the link to James Fuller as it was pointing to a page for a different person. However there is no current page for James, so that red link was removed. Seeing as how James, is currently a coach and also had been a player (some other pages try to link to him, can we keep a red link to him? Ar-wiki 17:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
There is no reason to keep a red link that you have no intention of creating. Create the article, then we have no issue.
"do not create links for subsidiary topics that result in red links (links that go nowhere) to articles that will never be created, such as the titles of book chapters. Do create red links to articles you intend to create or technical terms that need to be explained."
So again, do you intend to create the article, if not there is no reason for your contention.JaMikePA 18:03, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- I think you are mis-interpreting WP:RED in two ways. Nowhere does it say that the user who creates a red link is responsible for creating the corresponding article. Also the portion you quoted is not read as two independent sentences. You interpret it to read as "Do not create links for subsidiary topics that result in red links" rather than "Do not create links for subsidiary topics that result in red links to articles that will never be created".
Since James is a current coach for Dallas (AFL) and had a notable career in the NFL and WLAF as well, it seems that someone should create that page. WP:RED states that "Sometimes it is useful to create a red link to indicate that ... an article should be created for the topic because it is about an important, verifiable subject." Ar-wiki 18:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC) - Also I didn't realize this until now, but you un-linked all of the players without pages. Player pages is a current project of Wikipedia:WikiProject_Arena_Football_League, those ought to be left intact as well.
You still haven't proven anything to me.
"Do not create links for subsidiary topics that result in red links to articles that will never be created".
I never took this sentence outta context like you assume of me. It's the "never be created" part that supports my argument. If you don't create the article, then who will? What I have a problem with is lazy people who red link something and automatically assume someone else will come along to create the article. There are many more red links that never become articles than ones that do. If you don't want Fuller's name to be in black-ink Times New Roman, then create the article. If you are too lazy to do so, then this discussion is a complete waste of time. You spend more time arguing your case when you could create the article. Stop assuming someone else will come along to do what you wish could be done.

- The removal of these links tends to reduces overall awareness of the gaps in Wikipedia. It's not that I'm being lazy. I personally don't feel comfortable/qualified to be creating these articles from scratch. Also I've read that users should refrain from creating blank/simple pages as they lead others to believe that a page already exists, thereby either disappointing some or causing others not to create the page. Since the AFL WikiProject has the player pages on the radar, can we assume that they will at some point be created? Ar-wiki 00:39, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think you can assume that a page will eventually be created. What I am trying to say is that if you want a page to be created, you have to do it yourself. No one will come behind you to do it. I really hope that you're not like this in real life. You will learn the hard way that you have to things yourself if you want them to be done at all.
The reason I change red links is because I see the same ones for months on end, without articles created for them. I let the Philly Soul page go for a while until I got sick of all the red links not being made into articles. Also, how many times does the roster change with those red links not being made into articles?
The roster has only been set for the last month and several of the player pages are from the last few months, Claybrooks in the last 5 days. The player articles are being created. Ar-wiki 15:03, 31 March 2007 (UTC) |
- How hard is to link a page once it's created? Red links are an eyesore and take away from the readability of the page.
If the links are left there, it is a reminder of the page being needed. And there are counts of links that go to the same needed article. Especially in the case of a list, it is hard to imagine that red links make that list substantially harder to read. Anyway, I thought the problem regarded articles where their eventual creation date is undetermined. Ar-wiki 21:29, 31 March 2007 (UTC) |
Fair use rationale for Image:PhiladelphiaSoul.gif
editImage:PhiladelphiaSoul.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Venue?
editThe first paragraph of the History section refers to the Wachovia Spectrum as "...the current home of the Philadelphia Phantoms AHL hockey team and the Philadelphia KiXX MISL soccer franchise."
The Spectrum closed October 31, 2009 and is scheduled for demolition. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wachovia_Spectrum#cite_note-0

Oktober um 14:23 • Dear Jon Bon Jovi! First of all "Hi" and greetings from Germany to the USA. My name is Julia. I write to you with something that is very important to me, I hold it close and dear to my heart. It is about my mother Carmen. My mum is deathly ill. Everything started a year ago, at a moments notice. Mum always had breathing problems, she then had a pneumonia and took medicine. Unfortunately it did not get better and she had to go to the hospital. They diagnosed idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. That means the pulmonary tissue cicatrized and it stays like that. It is incurable. Furthermore they also diagnosed breast cancer, a very aggressive one and it grows very fast as well. My mum takes cortisone and needs a oxygen therapy, it's not working without it anymore. Everything is hard and exhausting for her, even to brush her teeth, talking and walking. Because of the cortisone she had a broken vertebra and also has to take insulin. My mother already had a chemotherapy but that worsen her lungs. Unfortunately by this time her lungs are affected with cancer too and she also has a tumor in her eye. I can't and do not want to write everything in every detail because it makes me more than sad to see and witness my mum suffering like this and I can't help her anyhow. My mum is a huge Jon Bon Jovi Fan. We went to your concerts years ago and I would like to fulfill her last desire and wish... I already know it won't be possible to meet you in person but maybe you could record a video message for my mum. ...to see my mum's eyes glow once again. That would be more than awesome!! Yours sincerely, Julia — mit Julia Kersten. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.65.57.28 (talk) 09:30, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
