Untitled
editI'm removing the sentence "dishonesty associated with abstraction", since it is not clear who's saying this -- Guston or some commentator? It certainly shouldn't be Wikipedia. RodC 18:28, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
manual arts high school
editDuring high school, Guston and Jackson Pollock published a paper opposing the high school's emphasis on sports over art. Their criticism led to both being expelled, but Guston returned and graduated.
this is incorrect. Pollock returned and graduated, but Guston never returned 208.58.252.155 13:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Footnotes
editI have wikified some of your remarks - click on the blue links, - For an example of the proper use of footnotes try looking carefully at the article Postmodern art. - Modernist 01:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, there is no single "author" of any article on Wikipedia. If you check the history of the article there are dozens of editors who contributed (although, in fact, the editor to start the page did sign it). If you feel something is missing, or needs clarification, please feel free to add it or discuss it here (as long as it fits within wikipedia guidelines listed below). Cat & Girl
editHis Head and Bottle painting makes an appearance in this Cat and Girl comic. Not sure if it's noteworthy enough to mention, but I thought I'd point it out anyway. Esn (talk) 21:29, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Inaccuracies
editI corrected several inaccuracies in this page: Guston worked in a small closet by his own choice (there he found peace and quiet to work). The Morelia Mural was made in 1934 (not 1938). Guston moved to Woodstock in 1967, not after his Marlborough exhibition (1970). The quotation: "There is something ridiculous and miserly in the myth we inherit ..." was published in 1960. Writings by Philip Guston
editI was looking for info on what he wrote. Someone said he was very profound in explaining the process of painting. Did he write any books or can something be said about anything he wrote? Bod (talk) 05:28, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
