This page is incorrectly combining two people (and was even worse in rev-diffs, thank you for those that made alterations):
1. Philip J. Reed, a notable writer/content creator focused on video games who passed away last year.
2. Phil Reed, a video game designer and occassional writer for RPGs.
Unfortunately I'm still very new to Wikipedia and don't know what appropriate template to add to the article for something like this. One thing I can try to do is make separate articles for both, as both may be notable. --My tightness (talk) 17:45, 25 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! The man the article is focused on did not work on video games at all, as far as I know. Everything listed here is for pen and paper tabletop RPGs, unless I am missing something. Do you see anything specific on this page that pertains to the video game designer and not to the RPG writer? BOZ (talk) 17:59, 25 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Correct: the sources regarding the RPGs pertain specicifically to the video game designer who is still living (e.g., https://web.archive.org/web/20071004003645/http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showcreator&creatorid=1130). Adding to the confusion is that the video game designer has done a little bit of writing (per that source). And for even more confusion, the still living game designer owns a livejournal (https://philreed.livejournal.com/profile) with a byline "Unclear thoughts and noise..., shockingly similar in tenor to the now-deceased content creator's well-known blog http://noiselesschatter.com/ . I'm not sure the game designer is actually notable prima facie, as my search for independent sources that covers him comes up very slim, while the deceased definitely has enough independent sources (especially since his unfortunate death) to warrant an article. Withal, the history of this page is that it was originally written about the game designer, then confused Wikipedians added info about the now-deceased content creator (who had various greater levels of "fame" than the game designer), combining them into the Frankenstein article. I will remove everything about the deceased gentleman now. --My tightness (talk) 21:20, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
