A few gaps

edit

The quote "in this field, almost everything is already discovered, and all that remains is to fill a few unimportant holes." (German: In der Physik sei im wesentlichen schon alles erforscht, und es gebe nur noch einige unbedeutende Lücken auszufüllen)" by Jolly is not found in this source[1]. Whoever it is found in some texts like this[2]. Can somebody get the book and confirm the origin of the source? This source by Max Planck institute [3] hints to an alternative source: "Max Planck, Interview des HannoverschenTageblattes vom 1. November 1931, S. 14. In: Archiv der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (künftig: Archiv der MPG) IX. Abt., Rep. 1, Max Planck. ReyHahn (talk) 18:07, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Gibberish

I can’t make sense of the following. It needs to be fixed or deleted: “ Ernst Mach recalls an anecdote where von Mayer when looking for Jolly for advice, but Jolly contested: "then water should be warmed by merely shaking it." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edison (talkcontribs) 17:58, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Now that I see what is intended, I’ve polished it a bit. Edison (talk) 16:28, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
