Slim down and split up

There was a discussion about this article among Wikipedia editors at WikiConference North America 2020. Some, and possibly much, of this article is a copyright violation from the book, which might be a family history. We think some of the content of this article should go into an article on the 1778 attack on Fort Donnally, which may well be notable in the Wikipedia sense. The family history should be compressed. I think the list of descendants should be removed. We didn't have a consensus on whether Hamman is notable in the Wikipedia sense. -- econterms (talk) 04:10, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Reported likely copyright violation generically to Wikipedia:Copyright_problems/2020_December_13 and cut out the genealogical details. If the parents and children are notable, some of that could be brought back. I referenced the uncut list of children on Phillip's profile on WikiTree, which is not a project of the Wikimedia Foundation. Interested parties can build the research there or on his profile on FamilySearch Family Tree or his profile on Geni.com and then cite that research here if the children are found to be notable. The Philip Hamman family association disagrees and disputes your finding on this subject. The information is and has been public for long period of time. A lot of the information comes from books related to and written by family members, such as myself, and we find this all to be irritating and an unnecessary deletion of information on Philip Hamman, Rev. War Soldier and Frontier Scout of the 12 Cont. Line and survivor of battle of Pt Pleasant in 1774 as well as battle of Fort Donnally in May of 1778. Both happenings are well documented as is his participation in them, there are historical markers in the State of West Virginia as well as KY and Alabama very out in the public and all is fact, provable fact! The materials that you removed should not have been, it is false to assume that it is a breech of the copyright laws as all has been in the public domain for years, most information coming from public material as well as written works by members of the Philip Hamman Family Association, who, myself included, do very much disagree with your findings and deletion of our materials and information.
