I read a story about the Jazz Foundation of America that mentioned him then I looked him up. Not bad, kind of a sad story. Hopefully someone will check on my sources and see if I used them right so this can be taken off "unreferenced."--T. Anthony 16:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also put back any valid information I accidentally may have removed.--T. Anthony 16:55, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, this page doesn't seem to get much traffic. I will try to help. rags (talk) 14:52, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Two points.

Firstly, I don't know how to document this. It might be difficult. I was introduced to Phineas, Jr, and his friends corrected my pronunciation, saying that he pronounced his name the way Phineas Sr. pronounced it: "FYnus". I am not fluent in int'l phonetic symbols, or I would try to add this.

Secondly, Phineas Sr. was more than a jazz drummer — he was the music director, instructor, and marching band director of a Memphis, TN high school for decades. As such, he instructed and influenced thousands of Memphis musicians, getting many of them started in their careers. rags (talk) 15:08, 15 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
