Talk:Pi (disambiguation)

Latest comment: 11 years ago by Bkonrad in topic Some Cleaning

Since the mathematical pi is the best known, surely it should be second on the list, under the letter?

Is there some reason the movie gets "π" but the letter, number, and meson get "pi"? Surely all four should just be wikified in a REAL-LINK|π form? (I don't know about chemists and pi bonds.)

I put the Greek pi links in historical order. I changed "In chemistry, ..." to "..., in chemistry", since in a two part phrase, the key item should be first. (As opposed to common WP article starts, where "In chemistry, ..." seeks to orient.) The adjective "mathematical" is more readable than the "mathematics and related fields" phrase.--192.35.35.35 16:43, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Moved stuff

edit

I'm moving the following here because either the entries lack articles and/or they are uncyclopedic for the purposes of wikipedia (e.g. wikipedia is not a slang dictionary). Note that the first entry, pi as a multiplication operator, is covered in the Pi (letter) article which is already linked to. -- jiyTalk 17:26, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

Greek letter on top

edit

Doesn't this contradict the rule that the primary meaning (the mathematical constant, which is at Pi) should always go on top?? Georgia guy 15:55, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reformatted page to show contents

edit

This page has a large ammount of different articles to link to, I've sorted it to try to help people get to where they want asap. I've left the main pi article link at the top. I know it's normal for disambiguation pages to be a simple list of links, but with 42, I believe this is an exceptionThe18thDoctor 01:46, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Does the abbreviation P.I. have a meaning in the field of instrumentation for measuring pressure in a fluid? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skysong263 (talkcontribs) 21:28, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

edit

I am in the process of making some changes. In a couple of days I will follow through, if contrarians don't show up.

Please see WP:MOSDAB on the use of piping for formatting (good) vs. for hiding the parenthetical part of a title (bad), for placing the blue link as close to the beginning as possible, and for linking to articles that address the ambiguous term. Some of your proposed changes are the contrarian view. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:54, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
I was about to say much the same as JHJ. olderwiser 13:58, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
