highest in the Americas?
editThe lead statement Andes, etc. However, Greenland is considered part of North America and has higher peaks (ex. Gunnbjørn). Anyone from the Mountains WikiProject care to comment/clean up?
I would correct to highest in the Caribbeans —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.13.81.39 (talk) 20:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

How were these mountains formed?
editCould someone add the geologic formation process/orogeny (volcanic, fold, etc.) of these mountains and/or of the Hispaniola island? It seems difficult to find how the island and/or mountains were created.
I've looked on the pages for Hispaniola, the Dominican Republic, Greater Antilles, and Cordillera Central, Dominican Republic and can't seem to find much information on the topic. This website seems to have some information: http://specialpapers.gsapubs.org/content/262/1.abstract
