editIsn't this wiki article directly copied from http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artist/w84h/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.131.21.23 (talk) 17:06, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- It appears to me to be the other way around: that page copied the text from here (properly credited). SethTisue (talk) 14:57, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- If that's so then the citation regarding the Futurama theme inspiration would appear to be a self reference. -- JSharp (talk) 01:34, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Futurama theme
editThe current reference for "Psyché Rock" inspiring the Futurama title theme cites a commentary track from Futurama, Season 1. That's at least 4 hours of material to comb through. We need to cite a specific episode, with a timing. I would also like to see the actual quote, with as much context as relevant, provided for consideration on this talk page. (It can be trimmed afterward for use in an article footnote.)
I acknowledge the resemblence is quite obvious. We still need a source. I have asked for help from WikiProject Futurama. / edg ☺ ☭ 21:06, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Just for the record, I was the one who finally inserted the biblio data for this item, but I haven't a clue what this is all about, having never seen this television programme. Initially I assumed the ref was an article in a magazine or something, because it was so vaguely presented. I agree wholeheartedly that the quotation needs to be pinpointed. The present reference is similar to citing a 500-page book without providing a page number. I hope somebody who owns a copy of this DVD will do as you ask.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 22:18, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Documentary
editIt's true that Musique(s) électronique(s) : les bruitistes et leur descendance does not mention Pierre Henry's putative presence in the documentary, though IMDb does. I have not seen the documentary, so it's up to someone with access to it to clear up the mess with a visual check, optimally. Agreed re IMDb which begs the question why we have templates for it, or similarly for Amazon which is, similarly/equally not a reliable source (I asked them some while back to change copyright information on a book by D Tovey... information which implied that its author wrote and had published the book prehumously, i.e. before his birthdate in 1875- and my request, with evidence attached (including the actual publication date of the book i.qu.), was rejected- with reasons not attached. But that's the way the cookie, and trust structure, crumbles.) Schissel | Sound the Note! 02:48, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
Note: an Interview with Carboni from 2013 at Acturevue.com (archived @ archive.li) ; http://www.jarrefan.com.br/?p=3185 seems to imply that Jarre talks about his work at Henry's and Schaeffer's studio but leaves open the possibility that Henry, if he appears in the documentary at all, appears in archive footage only (and that the person who put together the IMDb listing did not know that it might matter to make that distinction, whee! ) Schissel | Sound the Note! 03:01, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, goody! This sounds like another nail (or maybe several) in the coffin of any claim for IMDb's reliability as a source. Of course the Wiki-problem with any recent film is that it can take some time for the content to be reliably documented, while at the same time every popcorn-muncher in the theatre will be all to ready to post online his/her/its opinion about what he/she/it thought was in the film.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 07:15, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
Well, I should say people who put together the IMDb listing. Having tried to contribute to IMDb, the process is of course quite different from here- more difficult to contribute, more difficult to fix errors, etc. Gripe as I may, too often, about too many things, I vastly prefer Wiki-software-based sites... (though I cannot understand the enmity I seem to find between this site and TVTropes going both ways, but that's another subject for another time when I don't already have a headache and when it's less ir-relephant...) - Yes, quite. I used to contribute a great deal more to IMDb than I now do, and this is not unconnected with my decision to register and edit Wikipedia! Still, IMDb has steadily improved over the years, and is an invaluable resource. It is a pity, though, that it is not as trustworthy as we might like.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 04:12, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Was Herny born on the west of on the east of Berlin? If on the west he is a walking contradiction or another State determined mental case. Henry was very influential (in the opposite way) on Francis A. Schaeffer, (see pp. 47ff on Vol. 1, a Christian Worldview.) He disagrees with him but he also holds him in high regard. I am very grateful to have been exposed to him. 24.214.99.89 (talk) 22:28, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
