Below is the text that I just removed from this page - I don't know if the people at the French wiki would be interested in it. I'll try to incorporate some of this into the English article in time, but for now I'll replace it with a stubby thing. --Camembert
The text:
OK, I've expanded my original stub a bit, but I need to do some fact checking, because various sources seem to disagree on dates and things. Ultimately, he deserves a longer article as well, but that's for another day, I think. --Camembert
I removed "new electronic music studio" and replaced it with "new research service". "Le Service de la Recherche de l'ORTF" was especially involved in electronic music. For instance he (Schaeffer) gave birth to "Les Shadocks". --Camembert
Schaeffer's parent's occupations
While older versions of this page said both Pierre's parents were technicians, at some point it changed to state they were both musicians. If that's true, it seems a bit odd to state that "at first it seemed that Pierre would also take this as a career. He studied at the École Polytechnique" (an engineering school). If that was true, it seems more appropriate to state that at first it seemed he would take a different path than his parents. Is this a corruption? --Udi Raz (talk) 17:32, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Udi. Pierre's parents were both musicians. This is confirmed by his biography on Electronic Musicological Review. --71.88.47.207 (talk) 19:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Translating the bibliography section
I was wondering if anyone here is fluent in the French language, so as to translate the rest of the literary titles under this section (bibliography). --Soporaeternus (talk) 17:04, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- P.S. Also, I would like to know if the featured template/chart for the aforementioned section is even appropriate in terms of Wikipedia's guidelines and/or manual of style. Thankyou. --Soporaeternus (talk) 17:07, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Consensus on an infobox
Please sign your name under this heading if you want to have this article feature a "composers" infobox, as per Wikipedia's current standards for infoboxes in articles about composers. Unnamed Editor (User:Soporaeternus); talk 20:01, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia works by consensus, not votes, so people should give reasons for their preferences (as I do, below), not simply sign as though this were a petition. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 22:34, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

- --Support. I think that the organization of information on Schaeffer -basic information- into an infobox would be helpful to readers, and would create a more "structured" article.Unnamed Editor (User:Soporaeternus); talk 20:01, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

- Support. Infoboxes improve presentation of key data for readers, and emit useful metadata for use by software tools. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 22:34, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
← Looks likes that's a consensus, then. Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 23:18, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Oppose: I am against the use of an infobox for this type of article. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Composers/Infobox debates for full details of previous discussions. --Kleinzach 01:04, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
