(nyhistory.org) has several brief video podcasts (have listened to a few) from late 2006 about Toussaint, his family, St. Patrick's Cathedral, etc. which may be at least useful as "further reading/listening" or even as sources for beginning to expand the article Schissel | Sound the Note!14:46, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Problem with birth date, and date of arrival in the United States

The Lee biography of Toussaint seems to be the source of the birth date given here, and of the date of his arrival in the United States. Yet the most recent published biography, Pierre Toussaint: A Biography, by Arthur Jones (2003), suggests 1781 as Toussaint's birth date [1] and lists 1797 as the year of his departure from Saint-Domingue and his arrival in the United States.[2] The 1797 date makes sense, as the Haitian Revolution did not begin until 1791. I'm new to editing, and am not sure how to make the changes and citations without wreaking too much havoc on what has already been included here.JDPumpkin (talk) 04:45, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The second paragraph in the Biography section says that he was taken by the elder Berards to Paris. It then says that the younger Berards took him to New York. Did he return to Haiti from Paris or is the first statement just wrong?
In the Marriage and Family section, it says that Pierre and his wife moved to the American South in 1815. Then it says that they continued their philanthropic work in NYC. Did they really go to the South? When did they return to NYC where he died in 1853 (and attended mass at St. Peters for 66 years)?
Did all his wealth come from savings from cutting hair? Or did he inherit all or part of Berard estate? This is not clear.
I don't know the answers to these questions. I came to this article looking for information but coming away with more questions than answers. Bob Caldwell CSL (talk) 20:08, 1 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
