Yes it's german, so it was ok to delete it. But POV? I think it's very curious that you are not able to find a single word about the public perception of Vogel. His actions in germany are highly controversial (also in the muslim community). The "Verfassungschutz" (Instutition to protect the constitution) is watching him since years. He was also not even allowed to travel to switzerland Fremdschaemen (talk) 11:34, 1 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

not neutral

edit

Who wrote that article? Vogel himself? Totally biased article. He is NOT well known as preacher to the German public. He is not taken seriously by Germans wherever he publicly performs. Germany is a largely atheist country where preachers and missionaries are seen as an intrusion of privacy. His preachings contain suggestions to Muslims living in Germany which clearly invoke breaking different laws; thus he is under permanent surveillance by German authorities. He is at least controversial, if not rejected by the public as well as not too far from going to court. I do not read a single thing about his controversial behavior in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.88.127.11 (talk) 13:25, 2 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Germany is a largely atheist country where preachers and missionaries are seen as an intrusion of privacy." - i WISH that was the case. you need to get your facts straight - not only does the majority believe in some sort of god, it's even in preamble of the constitution: "Im Bewußtsein seiner Verantwortung vor Gott und den Menschen". regarding people not taking him seriously: unfortunately, there are many who do. 77.8.98.216 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:51, 22 April 2011 (UTC).Reply

Notability

edit

I respectfully disagree with the user who removed the "notability" tag. This man Vogel was not a notable boxer (he never rose high in any organisation's ranking and he had no high-profile or widely covered fights). He fought only 7 times, and won only 2 of those 7. Moreover, he is FAR less notable as a Muslim convert and preacher than, for example, Abdur Raheem Green or Yusuf Chambers from the UK. The Wikipedia pages on both Green and Chambers underwent extensive discussion before they were deleted for lack of notability.GorgeCustersSabre (talk) 10:12, 6 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I agree he doesn't meet the notability requirements for a boxer. It just appears to me that there's enough coverage of him to satisfy WP:GNG. If you disagree, I would suggest you put this up for AfD. Astudent0 (talk) 17:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Dear Astudent0, yes, I think you are right. I'll put it up for AfD. Let's see what consensus emerges. Thanks and best wishes.GorgeCustersSabre (talk) 17:33, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
The guy is notable, really. have a look in one of the numerous german newspaper articles an you will see that he is probably the most influential german islam preacher, very popular among young germans who converted (like himself) to islam. More protesters than supporter meet a his public speeches, and the media like to display him as the "evil muslim".--Antemister (talk) 10:55, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Recommendation for Deletion

edit

Mr Vogel was not a notable boxer (he never rose high in any organisation's ranking and he had no high-profile or widely covered fights). He fought only 7 times, and won only 2 of those 7. Moreover, although he has upset people with a few speeches, which have been picked up in a few papers, he is FAR less notable as a Muslim convert and preacher than, for example, Abdur Raheem Green, Hamza Tzortzis and Yusuf Chambers from the UK. The Wikipedia pages on Mr Green, Mr Tzortzis and Mr Chambers underwent extensive discussion before they were deleted for lack of notability. I thus believe that Mr Vogel does not meet notability requirements. I am keen to see what consensus emerges.GorgeCustersSabre (talk) 17:43, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I just came across this article and am currently neutral on it, although I do think he's not notable as a boxer. I would suggest you put this out at AfD and see what the community thinks. Papaursa (talk) 19:20, 15 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
