Map
editCan we have a map (of the route)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.111.128.3 (talk • contribs)
- I can suggest you have to buy Ordnance Survey maps but as described the modern route is often less easy to follow than the North Downs Way.Adam37 (talk) 17:32, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- A good way would be to add coordinates for all the significant places on the route and then fill out a {{kml}} template. This generates the route in Google Maps. --Old Moonraker (talk) 12:00, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
Ordnance Survey error
editWrong James?
editAccording to an official history of the Ordnance Survey, the original source of the "enduring archaeological blunder" was General Sir Henry James, director from 1854 to 1875. (Owen, Tim (1992). Ordnance Survey. Southampton: Ordnance Survey. pp. p 64. ISBN 0319004988. {{cite book}}

What surveyor?
editBut I believe Edward Renouard James carried out the main survey work of Surrey in the 1860s. It seems likely he knew Albert Way, antiquary of Betchworth, who published a note on the Pilgrims' Way in Dean Stanley's 'Historical Memorials of Canterbury' in 1872. This got much more attention than James' pamphlet of the previous year. Crispinpaine 11:53, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Why just a Kent project?
editWhy does this Kent Project have a monopoly on the Pilgrims Way when it passes through other counties too?
Pilgrims' Way is not a National Trail
editI removed the reference to this being a UK National Trail from the infobox, because it isn't. The North Downs Way is the National Trail, and its route differs from that made up by Edward James in many places. See the National Trails (United Kingdom) page or the National Trails web site for verification. Jonobennett 11:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
remove repeated sentence
editUnder the sub-heading "Route", the sentence beginning 'South of Rochester ....' is repeated. Remove one of the occurrencies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.135.162.54 (talk) 22:49, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Fixed, thanks. Don't forget WP:BOLD! --Old Moonraker (talk) 06:07, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Proposed v minor tidy
editI'm thinking about putting the two hatnote topics into a new disambiguation page, leaving this as the primary topic. Thus there would be just one hatnote, going there. I thought I'd ask first, to deflect any subsequent differences of opinion regarding which article is most significant. Suggestions? --Old Moonraker (talk) 14:05, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Navi/Compass boxes along the route
editI have put navigation boxes along all villages that have sprung up below the North Downs along the (shortest) route, as far as I can, if anyone else would like to add any more then that would be appreciated, especially near Chilham.Adam37 (talk) 17:32, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Broken link
editLink Number 19 is broken, please check and remove or replace — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.68.136.82 (talk) 10:18, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Easily fixed. Despite the fact this page has been removed from the RA website, it's generally possibly to find broken links like this on the Internet Archive. I have included the archived link. Dick G (talk) 15:43, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
