editSince when was Rabbi Hirschprung a Chabad Rabbi? Someone must set the record straight.
- He wasn't. There are some allegations about his purported respect toward the later Rebbe of Lubavitch, but that's it. 67.81.24.217 (talk) 19:22, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that he should not be described as a "Chabad Rabbi", but why do you say "allegations" and "purported respect". His closeness to and deep respect for the Rebbe is clearly described in his writings and well known among his family and everyone that knew him.
When the Rebbe passed away, he even said, "I have lost my Rebbi and the world has lost their father". At the end of his long approbation for the book "Hudres Punim Zuken" (a book that consolidates the many Jewish sources for keeping an untrimmed bear), he writes "I don't know why my approbation was needed when you have the approbation of the honorable holy Admur, Master of Israel, of Lubavitch, may he live long. And who [is needed to] come after the king? And therefore it is clear that the matter is forbidden (to shave your beard). PG 33. He acted as Rosh Yeshiva in the Lubavitcher yeshiva in Montreal. He granted smicha to lubavitcher rabbinical students around the world. He even signed a letter writted by Rabbi Zev Greenglass agreeing that the Rebbe could still be Moshiach after he passed away. There is no question of his unwavering support and respect for the Lubavitcher Rebbe.Gavhathehunchback (talk) 20:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
