Phenolic

In the article it says pine oil is a phenolic. Phenolic is aromatic acording to your link and pine oil is definately not an aromatic. It has one double bonds while aromatic ring has 6. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.142.112.34 (talk) 16:13, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Although pine oil is mostly hydrocarbons, it is a quite complex mixture. It is plausible that there are natural phenolic terpenes (carvacrol for example) as components. ChemNerd (talk) 14:22, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Infobox with chemical data: Some info looks wrong

The article presently contains an infobox. Some of the info in that infobox is probably incorrect.

• The text indicates that pine oil is a mixture, not a single chemical species. That's also what ChemNerd says. The infobox indicates a single chemical species.
• The infobox indicates that pine oil contains bromine (IUPAC name, formula, and PubChem reference). Is that right? Pine oil comes from trees that grow in diverse soils, I think. Most soils are very low in bromine, which might be inconsistent with the composition given.
• Given the above, I don't trust that the rest of the infobox is correct.

No. That was absurdly incorrect. I just deleted it, and it ought to remain that way. I'm not even sure essential oils can possibly have an IUPAC name, but it's certainly not the same as that for Brimonidine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.32.142.124 (talk) 23:13, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
