editI don't think he ever worked with Pink Floyd. Does anyone have any evidence that he did? 24.161.108.255
- Perhaps it just should say David Gilmour -- I know he played on Gilmour's solo disc. I thought he played on The Wall as well, but perhaps not. Jgm 18:55, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I am sure he was playing with them on Live 8... I saw him playing in Paul Young's band at Coventry when they were supporting Tom Petty and THB, but our attention was transfixed by the Fabulous Wealthy Tarts back up singer lady duo... ooh those tight pants! They were on The Tube the week before so there's probably a vid clip on YT to show what I mean. Royzee (talk) 11:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure but I'm thinking that the steve jordan link goes to the wrong steve jordan
- I was thinking the same thing, I'll unlink it. -Haon 12:05, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Palladino created abd performed the bass solo for David Gilmour's "Murder"- an amazing fretless solo in the song. He did work a lot with Gilmour & Townshend on a lot of records.
I recall his work on "Give Blood" (Townsend's White City I think) as being one of his more notable works. Wamnet 15:05, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Pinopalladino.jpg
editImage:Pinopalladino.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
- I placed the photos which are on the page a few months back, and all of them are GDFL photos.--leahtwosaints (talk) 08:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Change of Instrument
editThis section is full of hyperbole and reads like a press release. "...In the 1990s, ....At the time, he was well known within the industry for his fretless bass sound" Really? Says who? "....He was maturing as a musician...." Really? By what standard? "....He later wrote that he felt privileged to have been amongst the others on stage in such an event.." Really? Where is the attribution? .....Richard proved to be mightily impressed by Pino's natural bass playing ability;[6] More crap. “ This Pino Palladino, I can say a Meters record and he can play me the bass line. He can play anything. He's one of the only people in the world who can totally replicate that kind of Beach Boys/scratch/Walker Brothers bass. You can get that sound if you want it, dead on. So it was very liberating working with him." Ditto-crap. Reads like poorly-written liner notes.
BTW - the references are leading to 404 errors "Page not Found", rendering them useless.

He played a fretted Fender P bass with Jools Holland. He played fretless after that. I know this because I saw him play with Holland.
I see here that he bought his fretless in 1981. http://www.bassplayer.com/article/pino-palladino/nov-06/23886
So while he switched back to fretted bass in the 90's, he didn't start on fretless. DavidRavenMoon (talk) 00:35, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Wow, what a talented man
editHe was born in 1957 and reached the age of 24 by 1978? I'm impressed, I don't think I could do that myself. 24.144.65.88 (talk) 23:09, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, Palladino is part of the John Mayer Trio, and began backing really great bands from the start. It would be great if you would try to help add to this article. For a time, it looked like I was the only one interested in him. --leahtwosaints (talk) 08:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Excellent reference
editPlease add references for this article here rather on the page itself. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:39, 26 January 2010 (UTC) Bassplayer Pino Palladino
Palladino's newest venture: Phillips Saisse Palladino
editTouring as Phillips Saisse Palladino, a jazz fusion trio, mainly, which began a tour of Europe in late 2009. Often the references are shortened to PhiSaiPal or something like that. Here is one reference:[Link from Drummer's World] Simon Phillips, Philippe Saisse, Pino Palladino I think this might be a good place to keep references for the article. Thanks. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 02:11, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
He was also the bass player for the Who when they preformed the half time show for the super bowl this year. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.76.106.35 (talk) 17:50, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Influences
editThe "Influences on bass guitar" section lists Billy Cobham, a drummer. Should that have been Stanley Clarke? That section includes a reference link, but following that link yields an article that does not mention any of the cited influences. PhiDeck (talk) 06:17, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
This article does not mention as far as I could see his early contribution to Welsh-language rock music, particularly, his appearance with such great bands as Geraint Jarman a'r Cynganeddwyr. See for example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnJJcjyZYag&feature=related
I remember being mesmorised about his aweseme performance with Hywel Ffiaidd in 1981 in Bangor, North Wales. Someone who knows more about this should add a section on his contribution to the Welsh rock scene. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.221.74 (talk) 06:04, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Needs a discography section!
editI've added the "section" with one album that Palladino worked upon, but there are tons left! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 06:37, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
Pino's work with Dutch Musician Alain Clark
editMr. Pino has also worked with the dutch R&B musician Alain Clark in 2010. He co produced and played bass on many of the tracks on Alain's album Colorblind. There are even video's on youtube as prove! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.53.96.141 (talk) 18:10, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Needs rewritten
editThis article reads like it was translated from another language by Google. It is simply awful, unreadable and unintelligible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.131.130.141 (talk) 23:10, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- It's true, but then I wouldn't call "needs rewritten" the Queen's English. I've already done extensive editing and will probably do more.

The wife and The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts
editIt is one of those 'wording' issues. I believe they call it semantics. Maz was not a "background vocalist" for The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts. She was a member of the group. The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts, however, performed background vocals for other artists, this does not make her background vocals for the TFWT. It makes her a member of TFWT, and it makes TFWT the background vocals.
Saying she was a BgV for TFWT would be the equivalent of saying she was a background vocalist for the background vocalist. No, that is wrong. She was a member of a group. The group were the BgV.
THAT is why I made the change with edit 979747266.
Further information - Palladino and Roberts met while The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts were performing as Paul Young's backing vocalists. The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts were also known as Maz and Kim. Kim is Kim Lesley, the mother of Jasmine Cephas Jones). The pair released no albums of their own, but performed with numerous artists. 2601:983:827F:6B20:1DD7:CB56:657C:2301 (talk) 15:45, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
