Why does potc-wiki.com get a link and not http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/index.php/Potco

I assumed that sites like that were not allowed???

Also http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/ is a large forum for for the game.

pay or free or choice?

is it free, pay only or both liek runescape is?--Cody6 03:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Eventually it'll probably be pay. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 04:57, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Pirates of the Carribean Online will feature a free, ad-supported mode of play as well as a traditional subscription model. Consumers will have two options when Pirates launches. The basic access plan will give players access to many of the game's features for as long as they like, and there will be no subscription fee for the basic mode. Instead, the basic access will be supported by some type of contextual advertising that's not in the game itself. http://potc-wiki.com/index.php?title=News --Jimmcq 06:32, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

At "Basic" level, it is free to play, but access to content is rather limited as mentioned in the article. One change that should be mentioned is that the level limit is 10 rather than 8, which I've personally verified as a player. Skills in Basic are also limited to 2 upgrades out of 5 (players get 1 skill point each time they level up a skill area through repeated use), and the higher ones are also for Unlimited players only. Quite a few quests are Unlimited only, or you can only progress a little bit in the multi-part ones before hitting the dreaded "lock" icon. And along with the small ad for upgrading that's always shown in the upper right of the screen, you also get a full-screen ad for upgrading every time you do anything that would be allowed only as Unlimited, such as killing a sand crab that would drop a crab shell needed for one of the easiest Unlimited-only quests. Annoying when this happens during a combat, and you have to go click on the close button to get it out of the way during a continuing multi-enemy battle. Basic players' avatars have gray-colored names above them, Unlimited ones are in blue, and "Founders" have a gold symbol added. 138.163.0.44 (talk) 17:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

When's the ACTUAL premire date of Pirates?

The website says Spring 2007, and some people said it's coming out with the movie, but now it's Spring 2007, and the movie came out a few days ago. When's it premiring? (Not the beta u can get on fileplanet or other places.) Abcw12 07:13, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

who really knows for all we know it could come out summer 2008 you just gonna have to be patient but its coming out in russia on june 1 but for usa itll probably come out maybe may 31 or on the same date well just have to wait and see63.164.225.201 21:21, 28 May 2007 (UTC)medayugiohman

Disney has already answered my question; Fall 2007. Oh, well. Abcw12 09:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Make that October 31...2007. 67.77.145.238 00:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC) (PS I'm Abcw12 not signed in)

Isn't this contradictory?

"basic members will get all content that advance members do"

"The members get more content of the game and can do more things than the non-members."

Last paragraph of the article.

re contradictory

the basic access player gets all the content advanced members do that is true but for only one week when the screen is smaller and you can no longer do things advanced members do. you are half right but only half also exp is reduced by 40% and non members can only buy the light sloop class ship and can no longer skirmish other players. positive

they are saying that potco will come out on june 1 for uk and usa but are they positive or is it just another guess63.164.225.201 00:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)medayugiohman

  • I can't find any reliable source supporting the June 1 release date. The official site says simply "Spring 2007". I'll fix the article to reflect this. Cheers, Afluent Rider 00:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Could somebody sort this out? I am almost certain that the developer of Pirates of the Caribbean Online was not "pee pee"The Last Melon 02:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Official Release

Im at school right now so i cant talk long, but yesterday i saw that ITS OFFICIAL. You can download the official launcher on the main website. The Beta is finnaly over, Ill add more details when im back at my house. TALK TO YOU LATER. Tythesly 12:29, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I played the second beta and now I played the game with a basic access account (non-paid). I noticed there are a lot of restrictions so could anyone update the article so it mentions both non-paid and paid versions of the game and comprares the two? 194.78.37.122 14:24, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
For starters, free users are limited to a low level boat, can't teleport between islands, can't use magic, and don't have access to all the quests. (indeed, upon completing a step toward a restricted-access quest, the player is presented with an advertisement blocking the viewport). Oh, and free users cannot play in fullscreen, instead using a heavily decorated window with ads along the outside of the viewport. --Johnruble 03:51, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Jolly Roger merge?

I see that someone proposes merging the "Jolly Roger" article into this one. I support this proposed merger, because both articles are too short on detail already, and Jolly Roger's brief appearances in the game don't warrant having his own article. Vandelay (talk) 20:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

That was me. Naturally, I support as well. Pagrashtak 21:07, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Even if this is a month old, I say no. This article clearly is an overview of the game whereas the Jolly Roger article covers information on the main antagonist of the game. Just my two pence. BlackPearl14Pirate Lord-ess 02:35, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

He does only have brief appearances in the game, but is a very important figure in the storyline. But I don't see how he should have his own article either. If there is going to be a "Jolly Roger" article than it should be about the pirate flag and it's history. Game glitches

every once in a while the game will gitch while boarding onto another close by flagship causing the player to die when it sinks. also if you are on a war galleon and get on one of the top cannons if you get off you can wander around the side and off the ship thus gaining the name man overboard glitch. when the player walks around he/she goes up also when teh ship is moved the player is dragged with it returning to the surface of the ship(any ship weather its hte players another players a navy ghost or eitc ship) when the player walks over it in a fall Pirateofthewater (talk) 16:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC) Pirate lord of the leeward passage.

There are many more "glitches" throughout the game. Same are re-occurring and others are brief events but the number of times the game causes a player to crash, are high. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.115.79.63 (talk) 23:44, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey everyone, just keep in mind that Wikipedia Talk Pages are not forums to discuss glitches. There is an excellent and quite comprehensive website/forum on Pirates Online, available here [1]. Please use that to discuss glitches. Thanks. BlackPearl14Pirate Lord-ess 04:11, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Major Work

As can be seen, this article needs major work. As a notice to all readers: I will be re-writing the entire thing, section-by-section, and I will be adding new things in. I have already begun work on the "locations" section, and it now has in-depth information. This will be true of all other sections, especially the lengthy "list" of enemies, etc. There will be more pictures in the article as well. BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 22:20, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Funny thing about that, I was working on my own version as well. I guess we'll just see where it goes. Thanks! Garonyldas (talk) 03:53, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to work on this as well. Would it be efficient to divide up the sections to avoid duplication? Questionic 08:44, 11 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Questionic (talkcontribs)
Okay, well I think that what we can do is that each of us takes sections, and then we pass said sections to the next user to review. e.g., say I work on the locations and enemies, and Questionic works on History and Gameplay, and Garonyldas works on reception (please note, this isn't determined, this is just an example), and we finish, then we rotate it to the next person, so I'd give Garonyldas my work on locations and enemies and Garonyldas will give his work to Questionic, who'll give his work to me. Then we rotate one last time. We'll give each other our works so we can review it and make it better. Just a good idea, if you ask me, however long it takes, because it'll get the article to a much higher, much-needed stance. BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 00:43, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
That sounds good to me. I don't know much about the history of the game, but I would be happy to start work on gameplay. Questionic 09:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Questionic (talkcontribs)
I wasn't saying those were the final choices, although I would like to work on locations/enemies/features. So I'll work right ahead on those; Questionic, go right ahead with that gameplay, and if you want to work on anything else, do please let me know either on my talk page or here ;) Thanks! BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 01:44, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Gamecruft

Considering my recent activity on this article... and that which is mentioned above: I didn't look through the files and notice the gamecruft ;) I think I haven't looked at that policy in a while, so thanks for catching that ;) No more gamecruft, people! BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 04:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Those interested in writing in-depth about the in-game aspects may like to transwiki the removed text to a specific gaming wiki such as Wikia Gaming (where it awaits an article) The next step for this article is a good "Critical reception" section, building prose from any reviews the game has received. Thanks! Marasmusine (talk) 10:27, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah; this was the first article on a game I had worked on, which is why I didn't know of the policies ;) Wow, the policy-enforcer (me, haha), didn't remember a policy Gaah! BlackPearl14[talkies!contribs!] 05:06, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Criticism

I reverted this edit from the article, but if it is true it should be added to a criticism section perhaps: "Although Pirates Online and all other Disney online products are closely watched by game moderators, bypassing the filter is a very frequent and fairly easy violation that occurs. Extreme foul language, violence and graphic, disturbing cybersex are rampant in the game and it is strongly recommended that parents stay with their children at all times when they are on this site." Dara Adib (talk) 23:44, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that it's vandalism. I've been removing it from the Toontown Online page (word for word except for the name of the game) for a while now. 70.245.114.167 (talk) 13:50, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Emotes

I really don't think the emotes used in the games have to be on the Wikipedia article. It doesn't help people that are just trying to figure out what the game is about. Remove 'em?-- Barkjo 22:15, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

WHAT ALL CAN BE PLUNDERD? (CAN HATS BE PLUNDERD?)(CAN PIRATES WITH BASIC MEMBERS ACSSES WEAR HATS?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.23.178.198 (talk) 20:06, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

No, basic access can't wear hats. But you can plunder to get them, if that's what you mean. And, yes, you can plunder to get just about anything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.181.19.39 (talk) 01:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Logo/Jacket Picture for Infobox?

I can't find a photo of the game online; is it only sold online, or is there a PC jacket cover someone who plays the game would be able to upload? Sloggerbum (talk) 06:16, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

There have been many expansions and updates to the game since it was introduced and officially launched. They have gone from minimal graphic updates to complete island overhauls, as Port Royal, Tortuga and Padres del Fuego did in 2009. Next came Privateering, where players could join French or Spanish Navies for player Ship vs Ship Combat. One of the most feared ships to ever have sailed Ship vs Ship Combat daily was a War Frigate named "The Cutthroat King" Captained by Cutthroat Mc Rage a Legendary LV-50 Player and Guild Master of Rage's Marauders. In 2010, Pirates Online underwent a massive weapons expansion, allowing players to have dozens of items at hand at the same time, and hundreds available to them in loot, and at stores. On May 17, 2011, the Queen Anne's Revenge was launched as a flagship to coincide in with the latest movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which was released in theaters three days later. The most recent, and one of the most major expansions in the game, is Ship Customization. It added the ability to change your pirate's ship's hull style, rigging, sail color, and add an emblem to the sails. Additionally, the expansion added a new ship, the Brig, to the purchasable ship type roster. 2602:30A:2EEF:D410:F095:13:CB0F:4E0F (talk) 05:16, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
