Politics
editThe politics section was so out of date, it's embarrassing.
- Agreed. Not sure why editors thought it was a good idea to add information which would go out of date so quickly to thousands of Wikipedia articles.—Stepheng3 (talk) 19:13, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
Clam capital of the world?
editSays who? Shouldn't this say that they claim to be the clam capital of the world? --Commking 10:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think Pismo dropped this claim a while ago, but the Clam Festival lives on (I lived in the area, and was in the Clam Festival parade for many years). The Pismo Chamber of Commerce is promoting the 61st Annual Clam Festival, now says that "Beach, once called "The Clam Capital of the World"" --Gigglesworth (talk) 01:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Removed, unless someone can prove it to be true with a reference in 2015 or later. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 12:34, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- That's a rather stiff requirement. Why does the reference have to be from 2015?—Stepheng3 (talk) 04:31, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- What use to be true is no longer true in 2015 or 2014 or 2013. If they aren't the clam capital now, then it's pretty obvious to NOT make the claim in the inbox. As a person stated above, the city no longer makes the claim. Read the links in the article and do some searching to learn more about over-harvesting destroyed the claming. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 04:59, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not disputing your facts. If the city no longer makes the claim, it might still be worth noting as a historical nickname. I think the solution is to weigh conflicting sources against each other, not to arbitrarily exclude old sources.—Stepheng3 (talk) 20:47, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
- The historical nickname is stated in the history and intro sections. • Sbmeirow • Talk • 01:15, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification.—Stepheng3 (talk) 18:28, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Photo caption and filename mentions Addie Vacation Townhomes. This functions as an advertisement.
editI'm not sure why the caption needs to mention an extra location as it already states the location being the Pismo Estuary. Inclusion of the business name in the file name is also an indication of an intent to advertise this business via Wikipedia.
- I have removed the copy promoting the residential property from which the photo was allegedly taken from the caption. It is probably not necessary to change the file name, as it is presumably accurate and the file is not used elsewhere.Dwpaul Talk 17:43, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
