Hi, I have done what I can with this right now. Fisk is the only person that refers to this that ive found so far- will keep looking. Please do not change the guerilla/terrorist tag on the 1916 rebellion people- this is within context and represents both POV. I will be adding details on who was calling who terrorists to all the articles spanning IRA history soon. See comments on Talk:Provisional Irish Republican Army Fluffy999 17:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Iceland and Norway

It would be useful to refer to the British occupation of Iceland and the German occupation of Norway to show that these were not idle threats. But the present narrative is well written so I'd rather leave it to a main author to consider. --Red King 19:46, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Jeztrav edits

Jeztrav has removed detail from reference points [1] [2] [3]

and removed the (BEF) acronym after British Expeditionary Force. Probably didnt notice the use of that same acronym later in the article, and is maybe an expert on the plan so felt that the extra detail was superfluous. Anyway I will see if I can reinstate the missing detail so that those not so familar can benefit from it. Fluffy999 20:05, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

References/POV

This whole article seems dangerously POV; whilst there are a great number of references given, they are in fact ALL from the same source, Fisk, who by his own admission has been known to spare the truth in order not to spare the emotion. This article concerns an interesting and important topic, but can only be viewed as fundamentally undermined whilst it quotes exclusively from one source. Names of the Irish State

Another editor and I have just removed a number of anachronisms and 'not international' wording from this article. Specifically:

• The Irish Republic ceased to exist with effect from the approval of the Anglo-Irish Treaty, and so should not be used.
• The Irish Free State ceased to exist in 1937, before the events described in this article, and so should not be used.
• The 1937 constitution of the State gave its name as "Éire" in Irish and as "Ireland" in English. As this is the English language Wikipedia, the latter is the form that should be used.
  • The UK and the Northern Ireland authorities of the day refused to accept the name 'Ireland', instead using the illiterate construction, "Eire". This is the form used at the time in quotes by British sources, and the words used are retained unaltered. It is not appropriate to use this form elsewhere in the article since this was an exclusively British usage which will not be understood by the international audience that Wikipedia seeks to serve.
• The article also uses the form "the State", which was used in Ireland (state) at the time where disabiguation form Ireland (island) was needed. The Irish Government also used the term "the Jurisdiction", but this use seems inappropriate.
• The supplementary description, "the Republic of Ireland" did not come into use until 1949, long after the the events described in this article, and so should not be used.
