In what way is a milk jug a milk bottle. I have removed the redirect. And added a brief sentence. Probably this article should be deleted. Martin Hogbin (talk) 08:25, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
I am not insiting that this article is deleted, only that it does not redirect to a completely different thing. If somebody thinks this can be maded into a useful article that is fine with me, otherwise I suggest it is deleted. It is unhelpful, enencyclopedic, and misleading to redirect to milk bottle. Please discuss here before reverting. Martin Hogbin (talk) 12:15, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Can anyone please tell me what purpose this redirect serves? Surely it would be better to make this into a useful article or to delete it if that cannot be done. If I get no response, I will restore a stub. Martin Hogbin (talk) 08:21, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
Is this some kind of game
editFirst it redirected to milk bottle, then container, then milk. None of these redirects provides the slightest information to our readers. Is there some bizarre in-principle objection to having an article on a milk jug. If so, I suggest that whoever objects follows the appropriate deletion procedure, if not let us try to create a useful article. Martin Hogbin (talk) 18:45, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
If there is a reason for these reverts perhaps someone could tell me what it is so that it can be discussed. In the absence of any discussion or explantion I will revert again. Martin Hogbin (talk) 15:31, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
Container, Jug, or Bottle?
editWe all have opinions about what to call common household items. Wikipedia asks for Reliable Sources. Perhaps the most authoritative technical source is K. L Yam's "Encyclopedia of Packaging Technology", John Wiley & Sons, 2009. The sections on Bottles and Blow Molding clearly include plastic milk bottles. Similarly Soroka's, "Illustrated Glossary of Packaging Terminology", Institute of Packaging Professionals, includes blow molded plastic bottles and containers: no mention of milk "jugs".
From a practical standpoint, people will continue to call these bottles, jugs, or whatever they choose. Perhaps it is best to title this article "Plastic milk container" as it currently is. We should include the words "jug" and "plastic bottle" in the text. This seems to be a reasonable and inclusive direction forward. Pkgx (talk) 19:34, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
Revision
editThe article is weak as it is. There is a need for improvements in content, pictures, citations, etc. I will be working on improvements and ask for other editors to also contribute. Pkgx (talk) 02:14, 29 September 2018 (UTC)
- I have improved the wording, revised the format, and added more photos.Pkgx (talk) 16:51, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
Is it biodegradable?
editThe article does not say if the plastic milk jugs are in fact, biodegradable. I'm assuming they are?? 47.138.88.239 (talk) 02:30, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
