A Platypus is a beetle, the correct term for the mammal is the DUCK BILLED PLATYPUS.

I needed to find out about a platypus and was seriously inconvenienced by not having information at my fingertips. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DalekDave (talkcontribs) 10:15, 9 September 2008

Hi, DalekDave. Welcome to Wikipedia! This is just a "disambiguation page" -- a list of things which share a name. In this case, it's a things that might be called "platypus". Ornithorhynchus anatinus is just one such thing, and according to that article, simple "platypus" is a common name. Note also that Platypus (genus) is already listed, although nobody has created the article yet. Wikipedia is written entirely by volunteers -- people such as yourself. If you found it inconvenient that Wikipedia lacked an article on the genus of beetle, you're encouraged to create a new article on the subject yourself!  :) Hope this helps. Cheers! —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 17:50, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
