Merge

I think Pokémon Card GB2 should be merged with this article. What do you think.--70.162.46.19 03:27, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Developer

Is this game really developed by Hudson? Because I checked the list of Hudson developed games here on wiki and it wasn't on it. Does it need to be added to the list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justerbuster (talkcontribs) 06:02, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Release

Not released in North America? I found it in a kb toys in New York several years ago... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.103.43 (talk) 21:36, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Pokemon Card Game GB

"Pokemon Card GB is a Game Boy color game that is based off the pokemon card game. "Pokemon Card GB" was first released by a company called "Nintendo" on the 18th of December 1998. From that the company behind Pokemon then released "Pokemon Card GB2: Here comes Team GR" on the 28th of March of 2001. This article focuses on these two games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.15.239.95 (talk) 15:06, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Game System

The main mechanics of the game (Pokemon Monster) was to control the main character through a series of map screens and to communicate and battle with rival characters to process the story. The game was slightly changed for Game Boy, the main rule was the same as the Pokemon Card Game which is to battle enemies thorugh a series of events and collect special event cards. The player was able to assemble thier own deck freely.

Players could battle and trade cards with each other using a Communication Cable, aside from the special cards it is possible to complete the game using a Communication Cable.

The Pokemon Card Laboratoy, 8 Grand Masters and thier medals, 4 Rivals of the Grand Master (Pokemon Red and Green) were the foundations for the game's story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.15.239.95 (talk) 15:45, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

What exactly did Hudson do on this game?

Hudson Soft is commonly credited as the (co-)developer of this game. But if they are, then why aren't they credited anywhere on the package or the cartridge? And why isn't their name on the title screen?

None of the above contain the name "Hudson" anywhere. All of it states: "Nintendo/Creatures, inc./GAME FREAK, inc.". However, this line or a variant of it can be seen on every Pokémon product, regardless of who made it. These three companies are the legal owners of The Pokémon Company and the Pokémon franchise. That doesn't necessarily mean they also developed the game in question.

The only direct proof of Hudson's involvement is in the ending credits of the Japanese version (video). Here is a screenshot, which reads:
ゲーム せいさく
ハドソン
This appears to mean: "Game production" / "Hudson".

Right after this screen, this appears:

NINTENDO
CREATURES
GAME FREAK
MEDIA FACTORY
HUDSON

So this is a list of all companies involved with the game? Media Factory distributed the Pokémon Trading Card Game in Japan. Were they also a co-developer, or an assistant developer? Or something else?

There are also credits in English, see here, but for whatever reason, the names do not appear, as if the translators forgot to put them in. At least the video does not show them. Weird!

Nintendo.co.uk lists "Game Freak / Creatures" as developers. Nintendo.com credits "HUDSON SOFT CO., LTD." as the developer.

I never knew it could be this difficult to determine who developed a video game.

Well, it seems like the only way to solve this 'mystery' is to cross-reference the list of staff members with those of other games, so that I can find out which person belonged to what company. But that will take up a lot of time. - Manifestation (talk) 13:17, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
I just noticed that Game Freak's website does not list this game in their portfolio and never has. Creatures' website does list it. I conclude that attributing this game to "Hudson / Creatures" would probably be accurate, pending a cross-comparison. It is true that Nintendo.co.uk states "Game Freak / Creatures", but I suspect this was a bit of a wild guess by an employee, who removed publisher Nintendo from the default "Nintendo/Game Freak/Creatures" phrase. - Manifestation (talk) 20:47, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
