I have added authoritative medical journal references to most of the facts presented (I do not consider medicineonline.com authoritative as it is merely a plagiarized copy of the emedicine.com entry) If you have any questions, please ask here before simply reverting Tsschwartz 05:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jeremy Beadle Relation

edit

From a non-medical point of view, this article seems confusing. It is pointed to from the Jeremy Beadle article which states that he has a small hand whereas the article states that the condition causes webbed fingers. Is the reference incorrect or is there an area to the disease that isn't covered here? yet another Matt 19:28, 29 April 2007 (UTC) my daughter has poland syndrome which affects her hand the same as jeremy beadle, her hand s smaller but ys she also has slight webbing in between the fingers.Reply

Stalin?

edit

I've never seen this before, but I just read this quote by Shostakovich on Stalin, "His right hand was noticeably thinner than his left. He kept hiding his right hand.". http://hsc.csu.edu.au/modern_history/national_studies/russia/russia_key_features4/page62.htm#anchor117059 Perhaps he had Poland Syndrome also? NO! People with Poland syndrome can't even write, let alone become Bolševik revolutionaries. 2A00:23C7:5882:8201:86E:4255:7FCC:32F7 (talk) 09:41, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Poland Syndrome Reconstructive Surgery, California Law

edit

New laws became effective in California on July 1,1999, requiring health insurers to cover reconstructive surgeries, defined as surgery performed to correct or repair abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, development abnormalities, trauma, infections, tumors, or disease to Improve function and to create a normal appearance, to the extent possible.

The Statue define cosmetic surgery as that is performed to alter or reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve appearance. Willful violation of this law is a crime.

In my opinion as one who has Poland Syndrome All surgeries should be carefully monitored by your family Doctor. Making sure you get a CT scan of your chest wall before any work is done. Repairing your rib cage maybe necessary to get closer normal appearance. Many Plastic Surgeons do not do this type of work as it takes extensive training and can be very expensive and time consuming for the Doctor to map out a plan. If your chest wall in abnormal adding implants in the chest wall may not resolve or mask the deformity of the chest wall and rib cage. You can check http://www.curebirthdefects.org for more information. Steven T Nanko —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.244.72 (talk) 18:16, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm 63 years old woman and yesterday I learned that what I have is Poland Syndrome. Yesterday was also my birthday. If anyone is doing a study or needs a Guinea pig to study I would seriously consider it but only if it was legit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.16.251.121 (talk) 09:36, 7 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

extremly racist

edit

'Poland syndrome is a birth defect' is extremely derogatory toward Poles, i cant believe wikipedia nor anyone in the world of science supports such old racist terminology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.173.42.73 (talk) 09:55, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

You are wrong. Not a single case in Poland. Poles don't even know about this birth defect. People with Poland syndrome can't even write.2A00:23C7:5882:8201:86E:4255:7FCC:32F7 (talk) 09:04, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
