Notes
editGiving Cameroon's former name as French Cameroon totally ignores the fact that what is now Cameroon is a union of the UN Trust Territory of Southern Cameroons under British administration and the former UN Trust Territory of Cameroons under French administration, which gained independence in 1960 and took the name Republic of Cameroon (République du Cameroun). The present Republic of Cameroon cannot and should not be called a former French colony! Present Cameroon is a bilingual country made up of a former British "colony" and a former French "colony." The Germans founded a colony at the mouth of the Cameroon (Wouri) River in 1884 called Kamerun and lost it to Allied Expeditionary Forces during World War I. After the war, the colony was partitioned into British and French zones of influence.
- Feel free to change it! You clearly have a good understanding of the colonial-era history of Cameroon. You're encouraged to use it to improve these pages. Molinari 23:51, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Date is wrong?
editFrom the article:
- "...and presidential elections in 1997. Because the government refused to consider opposition demands for an independent election commission, the three major opposition parties boycotted the October 1977 presidential election"
Should that be "...boycotted the October 1997 presidential election"? Molinari 23:48, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Important notice
editThe government section of the "Outline of Cameroon" needs to be checked, corrected, and completed -- especially the subsections for the government branches.
When the country outlines were created, temporary data (that matched most of the countries but not all) was used to speed up the process. Those countries for which the temporary data does not match must be replaced with the correct information.
Please check that this country's outline is not in error.
