Your Photo of the intersection...
editis actually the intersection of Port Richmond Avenue and Richmond Terrace, not Richmond Avenue, which starts in Graniteville and runs out in the opposite direction, towards the Staten Island Mall and to the other side of the Island...
still a great place to live...
editPort Richmond, with its cultural diversity, is still a thriving community and a great place to live...shopping (though not close to the Mall) is within walking distance and there are a variety of Parochial as well as Public schools (grade school and High School levels) that offer excellent education opportunities for our children...
the downside...its getting way too overcrowded, with developers building "stick" houses on every scrap of free land they can get their hands on...too many houses, too much traffic and not enough parking...
Median Income
editI don't think that site is a credible source. $19,000 per year sounds like too low an income for the neighborhood: That would put it on par with neighborhoods in the South Bronx like Morrisania and Hunts Point, and make it poorer than neighborhoods like Brownsville and East NY.
I think the median income for the neighborhood is around $35,000-$40,000. If you look at this website: http://www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Elm-Park-Staten-Island-NY.html (It has the boundaries of Elm Park wrong, but the income stats are probably correct), you'll see that poorest section has a median household income of $29,314.
Now if you're talking about per capita income, then I could believe that it is around $19,000. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Checkmatechamp137 (talk • contribs) 01:36, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
