-lossy compression NEVER has better sound quality, in some rare cases it may have the same quality
-bitrate is not an indicator for quality (compare, for example, ADPCM with MP3)
-max bitrate for mp3 that every device must support according to the standard is 320kbps (see MP3)

the section about the programs was also quite a mess - it looked like the ipod was the only mp3 player in existence today. I have to go to sleep now, will fix this section later Balou 22:44, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
