Added www.portlandneighborhood.com

PortlandNeighborhood is a well respected website which offers an in-depth view of the 95 unique neighborhoods in Portland. The website has become quite popular in Portland and receives over 25,000 unique visitors per month. 24.22.1.168 22:10, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Angela Juon of PortlandNeighborhood.com

I removed the link pending discussion, per the warning in the external links section. Your site is already linked in about 50 Portland neighborhood articles. Though it seems useful, the first thing I notice is the real estate ads. First, please read Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided and Wikipedia:Spam#How not to be a spammer. Now, aside from the fact that if one shouldn't add a link to a site s/he owns or is affiliated with, what do people think about including this link? Too commercial? Katr67 23:01, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it belongs. It does not provide a unique resource, contains objectionable amounts of advertising, and is mainly intended to promote a website. Cacophony 08:20, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Agree that it doesn't belong. No original content, only links to other primarily commercial sites, disprop number of ads. Philvarner 19:06, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
It does not belong. It is relevant when a given neighborhood assn. has a site there, but not for the Portland article. -Pete 01:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC) (South Tabor Neighborhood Assn Board member)
I've personally found it useful in tracking down information about the various Portland neighborhoods, and think that it is a well-done site. I particularly like the [clickable map feature -- something not possible on Wikipedia, is it? But I'll agree with the majority and vote that as useful as it is, it probably doesn't meet the Wikipedia policy, and so should be removed from most pages. (Can a link to the clickable map on the Portland, Oregon neighborhoods page be excepted?) Also, in reply to Pete, are there really NA's that host sites there? I wasn't aware of any. --ScottMainwaring 04:39, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Regarding clickable maps, it is possible although I have not made one myself. See Template:NBA labeled map and Template:Caribbean Labelled Map for examples. The ability to make these maps would go a long way. I guess I will dork around with it and see if I can't make a clickable map of the neighborhoods. Cacophony 05:48, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I want to apologize…I had this mixed up with a different site, and posted my thoughts way too hastily. Very sorry Angela. I've struck my comments out above, and will take a closer look at your site. -Pete 12:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

www.eventspring.com

EventSpring.com is a useful website [1] that publishes events in the Portland area. They have calendars and locations by activity type. You can access it by mobile phone. There is a free newsletter one can signup for that publishes top events weekly. This may be a good candidate for the External Links section of the Portland, Oregon wiki page. Thoughts? Doesn't seem all that comprehensive, useful or much like a "unique resource" to me. Thoughts? Katr67 23:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't even think this one is worth discussing. The majority of the page is devoted to advertising and the site does not contain anything that the A&E section of any one of our several newspapers does not cover better already. I feel bad that I even gave them a pageview to consider it. Cacophony 08:28, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

User:149.117.164.28 took exception to my reversion of his/her addition of this link here. Discuss. Thanks. Katr67 01:50, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Rather than discuss this here, the user has chosen to blog about it. Can someone please comment on the link so I'm not the only ogre here? Thanks! Katr67 05:53, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
