editWhy are there two versions of the painting? Did Van Gogh paint them both separately?
Christie's bought it back, no?
editAccording to this page [1] Christie's bought this painting back from Saito for about 1/8 what he'd paid them for it in 1990. Could someone verify? Jim Tour 06:37, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
broken link / mislink?
editI typed a search for Ryoei Saito and was redirected here to Portrait of Dr. Gachet. I'm pretty certain that this is an incorrect link. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 129.137.156.197 (talk) 09:16, 22 December 2006 (UTC).
The Junior High has been active again. Somebody fix the title of the pix. No time tonight. Profhum (talk) 06:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Junior High
editI shall be editing here a few days time. Anyone object if I take out the naffer junior high? I mean at least to dump Robert Wallace, whoever he is (an Australian television celebrity perhaps?) National Gallery of Canada of course absolutely fascinating on Vincent's etching, but do we really need it? In due course I'll be contributing a stub anyway. - Well, I added the etching section, as I feel it is relevant to a painting as famous as Dr. Gachet, but another editor added the bit from the NGC. Feel free to remove/rewrite the section if you like, though I do feel the etching should remain in the article.--Chimino (talk) 11:56, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, of course the etching section should stay. I just think the NGC stuff is somewhat inconsequential. However it's not a really big deal and it will be a while before I arrive here again. I want to work through the entire List of works by Vincent van Gogh, mostly just adding catalogue numbers (essential because titles differ so much) as well as correcting the many surprising mistakes I see. What I can't get over is the huge number of cites of quite inconsequential critics (Erickson and so on, complete jokers :)). I mean I really don't understand that and it's difficult to know what to do. Of course I understand you have to keep them as good faith edits, but it really is trying!
- I'm now thinking about contributing Vincent's entire work. There seems to have been no systematic effort in that direction. LornaDooneBlackmore (talk) 13:16, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- There have been a few who have made a concerted effort when they had the time; the last was Carole, who created most of the articles relating to VG series/groups of paintings. Sometimes you will see critics references by name simply to keep within the POV and OR guidelines of Wikipedia...--Chimino (talk) 17:17, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
